Dragon Ball is back with a brand-new series, and all eyes are on its heroes. After a long wait, Dragon Ball Daima made its debut this October, and the show has put Goku center stage. The denizens of the Demon Realm are causing problems on Earth, and their first move transformed Goku into a kid alongside his close friends. This shift meant a new cast was needed for Dragon Ball Daima as our heroes are all younger. For Vegeta, actor Yudai Mino stepped in to voice the Saiyan, and now the actor is breaking their silence on the gig.

After all, it is not every day that a character as big as Vegeta gets a new voice actor. Mino is stepping into the role with royalty, after all. Veteran voice actor Ryo Horikawa has been voicing Vegeta for decades, so Yudai knows the pressure is on.

VEGETA HAS A BRAND-NEW VOICE ACTOR

“The reality and joy of being able to be involved as a voice actor in Dragon Ball, a wonderful show that I’ve watched for so long, has gradually sunk in, and made me want to give my best performance,” the actor shared on social media after Dragon Ball Daima shared its official cast. The actor is just one of dozens joining the anime, believe it or not. Masako Nozawa will still be voicing Goku Mini, but as for the rest of the cast, Dragon Ball Daima switched things up.

Want to know what this new cast looks like? No sweat. You can check out the list of newcomers below:

  • Bulma Mini – Mai Nakahara
  • Vegeta Mini – Yudai Mino
  • Piccolo Mini – Tomohiro Yamaguchi
  • Krillin Mini – Aki Kanada
  • Chichi Mini – Ai Kakuma
  • Kamesennin Mini – Nobuaki Kanemitsu
  • Trunks Mini – Tsubasa Yonaga
  • Dende Mini – Erina Goto
  • Mr. Popo Mini – Kimiko Saito
  • Kibito Mini – Yusuke Handa
  • Mr. Satana Mini – Toru Sakurai
  • Majin Buu Mini – Shiho Amuro

As you can see, Dragon Ball Daima is going all-in with a new cast, but Goku was given an exception. When it comes to Goku, no Japanese star asides from Nozawa has touched the Saiyan. From Gohan to Goten, Nozawa has kept a tight lid on Goku’s family so far as the anime is concerned. For the sake of consistency, Dragon Ball Daima chose to keep Nozawa for the voice of Goku even in his mini form. But as for his allies, well – Toei Animation went out on a limb with its new stars.

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL WITH DRAGON BALL DAIMA?

Of course, Vegeta Mini was given a very talented actor. Yudai has been in dozens of anime projects ranging from Love All Play to World Trigger and Edens Zero. Vegeta marks one of Yudai’s biggest roles to date, so you can imagine how big this opportunity is for Yudai. All eyes will be on the voice actor to see how their work goes, so we are wishing Yudai the best.

And when we say all eyes are on Dragon Ball Daima, we mean it. The anime marks the franchise’s return to TV following the finale of Dragon Ball Super in early 2018. In the years since, we have seen Goku do his own thing in the manga while a few Dragon Ball Super movies have kept the anime alive. More than a year ago, Toei Animation confirmed the TV anime would return in 2024, and series creator Akira Toriyama worked heavily on Dragon Ball Daima. Sadly, the artist passed away before the anime could launch, but his spirit has been keenly felt throughout the series. So if you have not checked out Dragon Ball Daima, you can find the anime over on Crunchyroll and Hulu right now!

What do you think about Dragon Ball Daima recasting main characters like Vegeta? Are you keeping up with the anime? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Like most fighting games, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has a bit of a rage quitting problem. Part of that is due to the inherently unbalanced roster of 182 character where some are naturally stronger than others which means you can put yourself at a disadvantage by going off-meta, but most of it has to do with people just not being able to accept a loss. The rage quitting problem is one that affects players of all levels including Twitch and Kick streamer xQC who, in this case, just so happens to be the one doing the rage quitting himself.

xQc isn’t exactly known for playing fighting games, but Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has been part of his rotation as of late ever since it released. One of his clips made it to the Sparking! Zero subreddit where other players watched him go off on people who were using “cheese” to win fights.

“Nope, no points for you,” xQc said after pulling the plug on the match. “I don’t give a f–k. I don’t care. You get no points. You cheese. You’re in my lobby, you do a cheese strategy, no problem. You get no points.”

He continued by tossing all kinds of expletives at his long-gone opponent, a Captain Ginyu player who, by the looks of the clip from the stream, didn’t appear to be doing anything cheesy at all other than what one might consider some light spamming. What’s ironic about the clip is that xQc is using Yajirobe here, a supremely underpowered character in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero who has only managed to find success in the meta because of his Senzu Bean ability which lets him restore health over and over again. The Yajirobe abuse online has become so bad that it’s Yajirobe — not Broly, Vegito, Gogeta, Ultra Instinct Goku, or anyone else — who’s first up for nerfs in the Sparking! Zero patch that’s coming out this month. So the irony of losing a match as Yajirobe and plugging while accusing someone else of cheesing was not lost on Sparking! Zero players.

Clips like this one from xQc in particular are not hard to come by. One of his channels, xQc Clips on YouTube, plays up these moments in the title by saying he’s “embarrassed” and “cries after losing,” so sure, part of this is probably an engagement bit after the fact. But the quitting in the moment part sure looks pretty real with how those fights are going, and it speaks to a larger problem that the game’s facing even when the camera’s not on.

Yajirobe proves to be stronger than expected in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

Other posts in the Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero subreddit have seen players begging others to stop rage quitting in ranked matches (or any matches, for that matter). Quitting in ranked is especially annoying because as xQc points out in his rants, the other player gets no points if you quit.

“Genuinely curious why so many people are rage quitting,” one of the posts said. “Especially at higher ranks and the beginning of the match.”

Other posts pointed out this inherent flaw with the ranked system which inadvertently punishes players whose opponents quit since their time is wasted with no points to show for it. Some suggested that players fighting those who disconnect intentionally should be granted at least partial points while others proposed a “surrender” option in the menu so that players could forfeit a match instead of just quitting.

But what does Bandai Namco think about quitters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero? Over on the support page for the game, the publisher states that there are in fact penalties for those who quit games repeatedly. It also hurts your stats that show the percentage of matches you finish so that other players can see that you are indeed a quitter. These penalties are geared solely towards queue times, however, and do not affect points.

“In this title, to maintain fair gameplay in Ranked Matches, penalties are imposed on players who repeatedly disconnect or engage in disruptive behavior,” the support page says. During a penalty, matchmaking time will increase according to the penalty level.”

Perhaps the next update will impose harsher penalties for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero quitters, but for now, players will have to deal with those situations online.

Dragon Ball is back in the best way possible. If you did not realize, Goku is dominating headlines nowadays thanks to his new anime and video game. While Dragon Ball Daima takes on television, fans are turning to their consoles for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. The game features tons of goodies for fans, and if you listen closely, you may catch a rather rare anime reference.

The whole thing comes courtesy of Krillin, our favorite pint-sized martial artist. If you check out the main menu of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, you will find a number of sections including one for character customization. When you go there, you can hear Krillin cycle through a number of dialogue lines, and one of them points out Launch of all people.

“Hey, has anybody seen Launch around here,” Krillin asks the group. Of course, nobody answers him, and Krillin moves on. It seems fans are not the only ones who have lost tabs of the heroine. Launch was once a key figure in Dragon Ball, but her streak did not last.

WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO LAUNCH?

If you are not familiar with Launch, no sweat. The character appeared primarily in the original Dragon Ball anime, so fans who entered the series during Dragon Ball Z don’t know her full story. Back in the day, Launch became friends with Goku and Krillin after the two saved her from police, but they did not realize the blue-haired woman was a threat. Launch houses split personalities, and when she sneezes, those identities swap.

When Launch has her blue hair, the heroine is nothing short of sweet, but that changes when her hair turns blonde. The character turns into a gun-toting gangster when she is blonde, and Launch becomes a major antagonist during these spells. During the 22nd and 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, Blonde Launch comes in handy, and she develops a raging crush on Tie Shinhan after seeing him fight.

For much of Dragon Ball, Launch plays a role in some way, and she even shows up in the Vegeta saga once Dragon Ball Z gets started. However, that marks her final big appearance. In the manga, Launch is only seen once more during an extra scene from the Frieza saga, and that is it. The anime tried to keep Launch relevant by putting her in flashbacks, but those are just add ins. After the Vegeta saga, Launch disappears from the series, and fans have turned her abrupt exit into a running joke.

Clearly, the team at Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft were in on the joke. Krillin is the only one who cares to bring up Launch, and the throwaway line is forgotten as soon as it is said.

DRAGON BALL: SPARKING ZERO IS BREAKING VIDEO GAME RECORDS

Clearly, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero features some deep cuts for fans, and that is why it is breaking records. In the first 24 hours after its release, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero sold three million copies which makes it the fast-selling game in the anime’s history. And beyond sales, the game is making major headway on social media.

After all, Steam clocked record concurrents for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero after its launch. Its all-time peak stands at 122,554 which is nothing to laugh at. So as it stands, the Dragon Ball game is one of the fighting genre’s top dogs. This streak will surely continue has DLC is already planned for the title. Not long ago, Bandai Namco announced the first wave of DLC for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, and it features characters from the new Dragon Ball Daima anime.

Have you checked out Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero yet? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

The Summer 2024 anime schedule is ending, so that means it’s time to get ready for Dragon Ball Daima‘s big premiere coming next month. The Fall 2024 anime schedule is kicking off in full in October, and that means a new wave of anime is going to get their start. This Fall in particular is packed to the brim with some highly anticipated returns from blockbuster franchises, but it doesn’t really get any bigger than a new Dragon Ball series. With the late Akira Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, it’s all kicking off with a bang.

Dragon Ball Daima is a brand new anime set within the Dragon Ball universe that will have a new story not seen in any of the previous anime or manga releases. Following Goku on a new journey, this new anime will finally be making its debut in Japan on October 11th. But thankfully for those in other territories outside of Japan, Dragon Ball Daima will also be available for streaming in a few ways for those who want to check out the new episode as soon as they possibly could.

Where to Watch Dragon Ball Daima

For fans in the United States, Dragon Ball Daima will be streaming with both Crunchyroll and Hulu beginning on October 11th as well. The exact release timing has yet to be announced as of the time of this publication, but Crunchyroll has also announced that they will also be offering the anime for fans in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. For fans in France and Germany, the anime will be streaming with Animation Digital Network.

The first episode of Dragon Ball Daima will be a bit more special than the rest of the series, however, as it has been announced to also feature an additional ten minutes of material to give it an extended runtime. That means the first episode is going to be a big event when it premieres, and fans in all sorts of territories around the world will be able to check it out for themselves not long after the anime premieres in Japan. So it’s time to mark your calendars for this highly anticipated franchise to make its big return to screens.

What’s New in Dragon Ball Daima?

Although franchise creator Akira Toriyama unfortunately passed away before Dragon Ball Daima will premiere, the late creator still had a great deal of impact on the new anime’s story. Creating the original story and new character designs for Dragon Ball Daima, the anime also features a packed staff. Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki are directing the series for Toei Animation, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is adapting Toriyama’s designs for animation, and Yuuko Kakihara is supervising and writing the scripts. The voice cast is also going to have a blend of new and returning stars.

Masako Nozawa will be leading the cast as the returning voice of Goku, who will be turning into a “Mini” version of himself. Traveling through the Demon Realm in order to find out the cause behind a mysterious conspiracy that turned him and the others into smaller versions of themselves, Goku will meet all sorts of new faces. New friends joining his side include the likes of Yumiko Kobayashi as Supreme Kai (who has also been turned Mini), Koki Uchiyama as Glorio, and Fairouz Ai as Panzy.

There will be plenty of new foes and potential villains in the coming series as well with the confirmed additions of Showtaro Morikubo as Gomah, Junya Enoki as Degesu, and Yoko Hikasa as Dr. Arinsu. Dragon Ball Daima will also feature an opening theme titled “Jaka Jaan” as produced by Zedd, with vocals performed by CLIEVY and KEEN of C&K. The ending theme for the series is titled “NAKAMA,” as also produced by Zedd with vocals performed by AI.

Is Dragon Ball Daima Canon?

Since it’s a new story from Akira Toriyama himself, it also means it’s part of the official Dragon Ball timeline. Through the promotional materials revealed thus far, it seems like Dragon Ball Daima takes place after the events of the Majin Buu saga but before the Battle of Gods arc as Beerus and Whis seem to be completely missing from the series thus far. Also curious is the fact that Gohan and Videl have been missing from all of it thus far too. That’s just another one of the big mysteries behind t all, and another reason curious fans will want to tune in.

With the Dragon Ball Super manga currently on hiatus, and with Toriyama no longer here, this is going to be the first new Dragon Ball we’re going to get for quite a while. That’s reason enough to be excited for when it’s going to premiere, so make sure you’re ready for when the time comes.

Dragon Ball Daima is finally set to make its highly anticipated debut in just a couple of more days, and the anime is sharing a new look at Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo’s new forms with a new promo. Dragon Ball is kicking off the 40th anniversary celebration of the late Akira Toriyama’s manga first making its debut with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and the franchise is starting things off strongly with the debut of a brand new anime series featuring a story not seen in the anime or manga before. And we’re finally on the cusp of seeing this new series in action.

The big hook leading into the premiere of Dragon Ball Daima is that unlike other versions of the franchise, Goku and the others are surprisingly transformed into Mini forms of themselves without a real explanation. It’s what sparks Goku’s journey into a whole new realm as a result, and is what fans are waiting to see what these new forms could lead into in this new anime. Sharing a much closer look at these new Mini form makeovers for Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Bulma, the Lawson convenience store chain in Japan is launching all sorts of specialty goods with new art. Check them out below as shared on their official social media.

What Is Dragon Ball Daima’s New Mini Form?

It’s yet to be explained through promotional materials, but Dragon Ball Daima’s key conspiracy at the center of it all is the new “Mini” form. While fans have seen Goku transformed back into a kid again with the likes of the non-canonical story in Dragon Ball GT, this seems to be going a different route. It’s officially known as a “Mini” form rather than calling all of the other characters “Kid” versions of themselves. It also seems like it’s stunted their power, but not in a dramatic way.

Goku Mini is seen being able to transform into his Super Saiyan form, and it’s likely that he’ll able to channel into his other two forms as well. But for the most part, this new Mini form means that each of the characters will have to change their respective fighting styles. While still being able to channel Ki and the like, Goku’s gone back to primarily fighting with the use of his Power Pole as seen through the promotional materials thus far. Given that this new series is set after the events of the Majin Buu arc and before Battle of Gods, Goku likely wouldn’t have access to his God powers either way.

When and Where to Watch Dragon Ball Daima

It won’t be too much longer until we get to see Goku Mini and all of these other Mini forms in action as Dragon Ball Daima will be officially making its debut in Japan on October 11th. The new anime will then be streaming with both Crunchyroll and Hulu beginning on October 11th, and then Netflix will also begin streaming the new anime series beginning on October 18th.

The English dub for Dragon Ball Daima has yet to announce its full release date, but Toei Animation and Fathom Events will be bringing the first three episodes of the Dragon Ball Daima dub to theaters on November 11-13 as part of a limited and exclusive screening event. This is going to be a huge launch for the franchise as it’s the final anime with a story and characters from the late Akira Toriyama, and will be exploring a whole new world as Goku travels through the Demon Realm to find out why he and everyone else has been turned into smaller versions of themselves.

Dragon Ball Daima is set to bring back the Z-Fighters and the voice actors that portray them back to the forefront this month, but not every actor is returning for the new anime adaptation. While the anime heroes will be transformed into childish “mini” versions of themselves, the original voice actors are still planning on being a part of the sequel series. Unfortunately, Toru Furuyarecently was a part of a major controversy and has had to depart several of his anime roles in recent days. Now, the same is true for Dragon Ball Daima as Furuya will be departing the series and a new voice actor is taking on the role of Yamcha.

If you’re unfamiliar with the controversy surrounding voice actor Toru Furuya, it involves the long-time anime industry member having a years-long affair with an unnamed fan. In an official statement from Furuya himself earlier this year, he stated the following, “I had an affair with a female fan for four and a half years until last September. I was attracted to her because of her straightforward support for me, and I foolishly contacted her myself to start the relationship. During our relationship, we argued once and I unintentionally raised my hand. It was the worst thing I could have done as an adult and as a human being.”

Furuya’s statement continued, “I also made the unforgivable mistake of causing her to have an abortion. I am truly, truly sorry for the deep hurt that I caused the other woman, both physically and mentally. I cannot apologize enough for betraying the trust of all my fans who have supported me over the years, disappointing them, hurting them, and tarnishing my character. I have also betrayed the trust of all those involved and have caused them a great deal of trouble.”

Yamcha’s New Voice Actor

Dragon Ball Daima’s official website shared the following statement regarding the switch, “Toru Furuya, who has long played the role of Yamcha in the Dragon Ball series, will be replaced by Ryota Suzuki, who will take over the role from the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima, which will air on October 11, 2024.”

Alongside departing the Dragon Ball franchise, Furuya has left other major anime franchises, One Piece and Detective Conan. In the former, Toru played the role of Sabo, Monkey D. Luffy’s brother. In the latter, the voice actor took on the role of Rei Furuya in the long-running anime series Case Closed

yamcha.jpg

Furuya’s History With Yamcha

Like several other voice actors who work on Dragon Ball, Toru Furuya has been playing the role of Yamcha since the very beginning of the anime adaptation. Cast in the original Dragon Ball series, Furuya has lent his voice to the sand bandit for decades and has had major roles in other anime series. On top of the previously mentioned One Piece and Detective Conan, Toru has had roles such as Amuro in Mobile Suit Gundam, Seiya in Saint Seiya, Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon, and Mewtwo in Pokemon: Detective Pikachu.

Foruya’s replacement, Ryota Suzuki, also has some anime roles that fans might be familiar with. His biggest roles include Ryusui Nanami in Dr. Stone, Mizuro in Tokyo Ghoul:re, and Arbus in The Seven Deadly Sins

It’s no secret that streaming services are attempting to win the anime streaming wars. With platforms like Crunchyroll, Hulu, Netflix, MAX, and more nabbing major series and creating anime originals of their own, it seems that one of the streamers has acquired the most highly anticipated anime of the fall season, and perhaps of 2024 as a whole. Netflix has made its fair share of original anime series, including Castlevania, Baki Hanma, Beastars, Arcane, and more, but their latest reveal is one for the record books. Get ready to rock the dragon this month as Netflix is bringing Dragon Ball Daima to its platform.

For those who need to be brought up to speed on Dragon Ball Daima’s story, or want a quick refresher, the upcoming anime adaptation was made by Toei Animation with input from series creator Akira Toriyama. Tragically, Toriyama passed away, meaning that Daima is set to be one of the last works from the legendary manga artist. In the upcoming anime set to release on October 11th, Goku and his fellow Z-Fighters have been transformed into “mini” versions of themselves. Looking to bring everyone back to normal, Son explores the galaxy with the Supreme Kai as a nefarious conspiracy begins to unravel before them.

Dragon Ball Daima’s Netflix Debut

Netflix made the major announcement that it would be airing Dragon Ball Daima’s episodes, though the streaming service’s release date was a tad later than Crunchyroll’s. Goku and his friends’ next adventure will hit Netflix on October 18th globally, with it arriving a little bit earlier on the streaming service in Asia on October 14th. Since Netflix recently aired Dandadan alongside Crunchyroll and Hulu, the platform is clearly moving further into the anime game with each passing year.

Dragon Ball Daima Details

At present, Dragon Ball Daima reportedly will have around twenty episodes to its name as this new chapter of the Z-Fighters unfurls. While this is the latest entry in the shonen franchise, anime fans shouldn’t expect elements from Dragon Ball Super to make an appearance here. Daima’s story takes place following the death of Kid Buu in Dragon Ball Z but before Whis and Beerus make landfall in Dragon Ball Super. This means that transformations like Ultra Instinct, Super Saiyan Blue, and more most likely won’t be featured as the mini-Goku bounces around the universe.

While Super Dragon Ball Heroes did give fans some Z-Fighter action, Dragon Ball Super’s anime ended in 2018 with the finale of the Tournament of Power. Goku and company would return thanks to silver screen outings including Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero but fans have been waiting for the shonen series to return to television proper.

Super’s Future

While the anime community’s anticipation is high for Dragon Ball Daima, many fans are left wondering if Dragon Ball Super’s television series will make a comeback. Unfortunately, Toei Animation has been tight-lipped regarding an anime adaptation of both the Moro and Granolah Arcs. Perhaps, once Daima ends, Toei will reveal that Dragon Ball Super will be making a comeback.

Following the tragic passing of creator Akira Toriyama, Super’s manga artist, Toyotaro, confirmed that the series would return in the future. While many plotlines were resolved, one major thread remains as Frieza’s new transformation, Black Frieza, has made the villain the strongest being in the universe. One-shotting Goku and Vegeta in his previous appearance, the Z-Fighters have a major challenge in the future if they are looking to defeat the classic foe.

Decades ago, the Dragon Ball fandom has no idea that love was on the horizon for its heroes, but that future came to pass. From Goku to Vegeta, the anime’s heroes went on to find the loves of their lives all while fighting insanely strong villains. Vegeta and Bulma have been the most upfront about their romance, but there are other flames burning the background. Goku and Chi-Chi are amongst them, and thanks to the anime’s cast we just got a risque peek at the couple’s love life.

Honestly, we’re not sure we needed to know that much about Goku’s bedroom habits. No one is here to kink shame, but fans at a recent convention did not expect Chi-Chi’s voice actor to unpack the couple’s secret lives.

A Saucy Peek at Goku’s Love Life

Recently, Paty Acevedo made fans double take when she took the stage at a convention. It was there Chi-Chi’s voice actor chatted with Mario Castaneda, the Spanish voice actor for Son Goku. It was there the two Dragon Ball stars joked about their characters’ romance, and things took a NSFW turn rather fast.

“I thought marriage was a bowl of soup,” Castaneda said as Goku before Acevedo chimed in with a zinger:

“And that bowl of soup is not the only thing this man eats.”

Yup. You read that right. The voice actress behind Chi-Chi went there. Acevedo broke an unspoken taboo by talking about Chi-Chi’s bedroom habits with Goku, and Castaneda (plus the entire Spanish cast) was taken aback.

dragon-ball-goku-anime.png

“Chi-Chi, don’t talk about our intimacy,” Goku’s actor shared, but the damage was done. The convention clip has gone viral with Dragon Ball fans online, and it has the fandom buzzing about Goku’s love life.

The Cute Truth Behind Goku x Chi-Chi

After all, if you did not know Goku was married with kids, you might think the character was aromantic. The man has never shown much interest in romance or sexual attraction; Goku is too busy training to worry about such matters. Still, the original Dragon Ball anime set up Goku’s romance with Chi-Chi, and series creator Akira Toriyama always intended for the couple to get together.

However, Goku has had a few scant moments with Chi-Chi in canon. While the Saiyan is mostly scared of his wife, Goku has shared his love for Chi-Chi outright. After beating Kid Buu, Goku reminded Chi-Chi that he loves her, and she stayed by Goku’s side the entire time he battled his heart disease. The pair may not be one for PDA, but there is clearly a connection between Goku and Chi-Chi. But given the Saiyan’s agamic attitude, you can see why fans were shocked by Acevedo’s innuendo. After all, the couple has a number of kids, and they had to come from someplace.

As for where this couple will go next, Dragon Ball has left the door wide open. Goku and Chi-Chi are grandparents now as Gohan has a family of his own. With Goten moving into his teens, Goku and Chi-Chi are enjoying a slower life, but they are about to hit a nasty roadblock. After all, Dragon Ball Daima is on the horizon, and the anime promises to turn Goku into a ‘kid’ after Demon Realm denizens make a wish with Shenron.

What’s Next for Dragon Ball

It’s been six years since we last Son Goku on our televisions, but fear not! In just a little over a week Dragon Ball will be back with the all-new anime Dragon Ball Daima. Based on the original teaser trailer, it looks the gang is getting a childlike reboot – someone’s magic turns our Z fighters back into children! That’s all we’ve known about the series up until now! Luckily for us, Toei Animation just revealed the plot synopsis for episode one, giving us a tiny glimpse into what the show will truly be about.

“Goku and his friends were living a peaceful life when they were suddenly shrunk due to a conspiracy! When they find out that the reason might lie in a world called “Demon Realm”, a mysterious young Majin named Glorio appears before them.”

While it’s still only the episode one synopsis, it’s nice to get an idea! A new character named Glorio and something called the “Demon Realm”… We’ll be tuned in to see where this series takes us.

In just over a week, the world will get its first taste of Dragon Ball Daima. It has been more than six years since Son Goku hit up the TV, but at last, the hero has a return date. On October 11, Dragon Ball Daima will . The canon series promises to set Goku on yet another wild mission, and at last, we have been given a new blurb describing the anime.

After all, Dragon Ball Daima has kept much of its story quiet. Netizens have been left to speculate intensely over the anime, but with its premiere a week away, Toei Animation has posted its synopsis for episode one. The blurb was shared by the crew at Crunchyroll, so you can read the synopsis below for the juicy details:

“Goku and his friends were living a peaceful life when they were suddenly shrunk due to a conspiracy! When they find out that the reason might lie in a world called “Demon Realm”, a mysterious young Majin named Glorio appears before them.”

The True Threat of Dragon Ball Daima

As you can see, the synopsis for Dragon Ball Daima episode one contains some solid information about the anime. We know the series starts in a time of peace as Goku and the gang will be living easily enough. That will all change when they are suddenly transformed into miniature versions of themselves. You can guess how upset characters like Vegeta will be about the blow, so it falls to Goku to suss out the situation.

dragon-ball-daima-goku-mini-anime.jpg
Goku Mini in Dragon Ball Daima

It turns out the sudden transformation is tied to the Demon Realm, and the blurb teases its first denizen. A character named Glorio is mentioned as the demon will show up before Goku and the gang. As for what they want? Well, that much is being kept secret. You can bet Glorio will clue in Goku about his mini form in some way. And after being educated about the Demon Realm, there is a very good chance Goku will travel to the area in search for a cure.

When Does Dragon Ball Daima Debut?

Since Dragon Ball Daima was first announced, , and this blurb proves our hero is finally back. From Piccolo to Vegeta, the gang will come together shortly to figure out why the Demon Realm has targeted them. As for Goku, he will be leading the charge with the Kaioshin, so there is no telling what the team will find in the underworld.

If you are eager to check out the anime’s premiere, no sweat! Dragon Ball Daima will go live on October 11 in Japan, and Crunchyroll will simulcast the series in various regions including the United States. An English dub of Dragon Ball Daima has been announced, and Toei Animation will debut the dub in theaters later this fall.

What do you think about this latest update on Dragon Ball Daima? Are you excited to catch up with Goku? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Dragon Ball is gearing up for a rather busy month. If you did not realize, the franchise will soon return to television thanks to Dragon Ball Daima. Son Goku will lead the charge as he ushers in the anime’s next big series, and of course, fans are hyped about the drop. The premiere comes in time for Dragon Ball‘s 40th anniversary, and in order to celebrate the milestone, the franchise just dropped a big collaboration with My Hero Academia.

Oh yeah, you read that right. Dragon Ball has come together with My Hero Academia all thanks to Kohei Horikoshi. The artist is the latest person to join the Dragon Ball Super Gallery initiative, so you can peek his work below.

dragon-ball-mha.jpg

Dragon Ball Meets My Hero Academia

After joining the Dragon Ball Super Galley project, Horikoshi asked to ink a new cover for Dragon Ball volume 13. Akira Toriyama created the original cover back in . The volume, which features Kid Goku front and center, takes place during the hero’s younger years. Following Piccolo’s hunt for the dragon balls, Goku is forced to work with his friends to stop the demon king, but not even Roshi can stop the inevitable from happening.

Volume 13 of Dragon Ball is a definite classic, and Horikoshi wanted to try his own hand at the piece. He did not do anything drastic to the cover’s composition except to add his own style. Kid Goku looks great under Horikoshi’s hand, of course. When it comes to artistry, few creators hold up next to Horikoshi, and this latest Dragon Ball Super Gallery piece proves as much.

The Future of Dragon Ball

This special crossover is just the latest to join Dragon Ball for its 40th anniversary. Back in 2021, the Dragon Ball Super Gallery initiative kicked off with a crossover from Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto. Since then, a number of top-tier creators have taken part in the celebration. From Bleach to Chainsaw Man and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, a number of creators have given Goku a go, and there are still more tributes to come.

While Dragon Ball focuses on its 40th anniversary, the anime is buckling down in the short term. Dragon Ball Daima is just days out from its release, after all. The much-anticipated anime is set to hit Crunchyroll on October 11, and it will mark Goku’s return to television after Dragon Ball Super. It has been more than six years since the TV anime gave us anything new to watch, so expectations for this series are high. So if you want to show Dragon Ball some love, be sure to check out its new anime next Friday!

And as for Horikoshi? Well, the man is enjoying a well-deserved vacation. The artist brought My Hero Academia to an end earlier this summer after a decade-long run. At this time, no word has been given on what Horikoshi will publish next, but fans are eager to see where the future takes the My Hero Academia creator. And if they really miss Deku, the My Hero Academia anime is still alive and well with more arcs to adapt.

What do you think about this latest Dragon Ball crossover? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Son Goku has a lot of enemies but few of them hold up to Jiren. Sure, villains like Frieza and Goku Black are icons, but they don’t have the same bite as Jiren. Dragon Ball Super brought the Pride Trooper to life during the Tournament of Power. It was there the Universe 11 fighter piqued interest as his raw power left guys like Goku and Vegeta at a loss. In the end, Goku was able to take down Jiren, but the Pride Trooper just got a new form reweighs the scales.

After all, Jiren vs Goku is one of the most-buzzed about battles in Dragon Ball, and it was pretty close. The Pride of Universe 11 was ushered into the Tournament of Power with a telling reputation. Regarded as the multiverse’s strongest man, Jiren was fated to clash with Goku during the Tournament of Power, and that they did. The prolonged battle is what pushed the arrival of Ultra Instinct. In response, Jiren unlocked his own power boost during the tournament, and now the Pride Trooper has gained a new form with Ultra Supervillain.

What Is Jiren’s New Form?

Yes, you read that right. Jiren is the latest user of Ultra Supervillain, and we have Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to thank. The video game set up its next DLC with a teaser that shows Jiren in his new state. It seems Jiren and Belmod the God of Destruction have been graced with the form. And if you know anything about Dragon Ball, the Ultra Supervillain form is rather potent.

Presented in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse universe, Fu created Ultra Supervillain to unleash a fighter’s full potential. When it comes to power, Ultra Supervillain is a top-tier form that we have seen Broly and Goku Black use. The characters’ power levels were raised exponentially by Ultra Supervillain. When Vegeta was overtaken by the form, none of the Dragon Team could beat him including Goku. So when you consider how powerful Jiren is at his base form, well – things get dicey for Goku.

During the Tournament of Power, Jiren fought at his maximum output, but Ultra Supervillain will make him stronger in two big ways. The first is that Ultra Supervillain raises a fighter’s base power. And as for the second way, this new form rids Jiren of his noble mindset and allows him to fight dirty.

Ultra Supervillain vs Ultra Instinct

When Ultra Instinct Goku took on Jiren in Dragon Ball Super, the latter found himself outclassed before long. Not even Jiren’s final power boost could take down Goku directly. Still, the Pride Trooper put forth one hell of a fight. He was ultimately defeated by Goku and Golden Frieza together, so fans have long wondered if Ultra Instinct could have worn Jiren down.

In truth, Goku would , but that is no longer the case. Jiren had the power on hand to challenge Ultra Instinct Goku during the Tournament of Power, and Ultra Supervillain magnifies that strength. Plus, the form’s key characteristic is its malicious, malevolent feel. Fighters who undergo the Ultra Supervillain form become very nasty, and that personality is the antithesis of Jiren. The Pride Trooper is all about justice and fighting honorably, so imagine what he could do when he isn’t worried about such things?

It has been some time since Jiren caught the fandom’s attention, but his Ultra Supervillain makeover has done the trick. The Pride Trooper’s power levels are already top tier, and this transformation is only going to escalate things further. Given Ultra Instinct Goku’s history with Jiren, it stands to reason this new form could knock down the Saiyan. And if that happens, Dragon Ball fans are going to be busy rearranging their character tier lists.

What do you think about this Dragon Ball reveal? Are you excited to see Jiren’s new form? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

On Tuesday, October 1st, Japan is set to anoint its new Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. Representing the Liberal Democratic Party, the sixty-seven-year-old was able to overtake opponent Sanae Takaichi in the race to lead the Eastern country, stepping for previous Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. While Ishiba might have a long career as a politician in Japan, you might be astonished to see how his work led him to create one of the biggest anime crossovers. In the past, Ishiba had the opportunity to cosplay as none other than Dragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu, proving that anime’s continued popularity has it appearing in some wild avenues.

Anime and politics have found themselves intermingling in Japan for quite some time. A prime example is the case of Ken Akatsuma, the creator of Love Hina who decided to put down his pen and run for office. In 2022, Akatsuma secured enough votes to gain a seat in Japan’s 26th House of Councillors. So dedicated was he to win this election that he halted his work on his biggest manga offerings and has continued to play a big role in politics. When it comes to major politicians appearing in anime worlds, the likes of Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama have appeared in series such as Baki The Grappler, Inuyashiki, and even Death Note

Why Did Shigeru Become a Majin?

In 2018, the upcoming Prime Minister was helping in the opening of an anime figure store and was handed a costume of Dragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu. When he was handed the outfit, he didn’t have time to say no and was more than willing to throw on the villain’s costume as he delivered an address to attendees. You can check out a video of the ceremony below.

Is Majin Buu In Dragon Ball Daima?

While we don’t foresee Shigeru once again donning the Majin’s attire, anime fans should expect Majin Buu to make a comeback in the upcoming anime series Dragon Ball Daima. Beginning next month, the Dragon Ball Z sequel series will see Buu and the other Z-Fighters transformed into child-sized versions of themselves. Thanks to the events of the final major arc of Dragon Ball Z, “Fat Buu” became friends with Goku and company and mostly hangs out with Mr. Satan during his “off hours”.

While Buu has appeared in Dragon Ball Daima promotional material, it has yet to be seen how involved the former villain will be in the anime. The story of the series has mostly focused on Son Goku joining the likes of Supreme Kai and newcomers Glorio and Panzy as they attempt to uncover a conspiracy involving the dragon balls.

Buu In The Moro Arc

There has been one major storyline involving Majin Buu that has yet to be animated. Dragon Ball Super’s Moro Arc saw the former Z villain joining forces with the Z-Fighters to fight against the energy-absorbing sorcerer. Not only do we get the chance to see Buu front and center in the storyline, but there’s a definitive moment featuring the reincarnation of Kid Buu, Uub, that determines the outcome of the arc. While the Dragon Ball anime will return in Daima, there has been no word from Toei Animation regarding the return of Dragon Ball Super

In 2011, Sui Ishida took the manga industry by storm with a little series called Tokyo Ghoul. The dark fantasy made its way into Weekly Young Jump with a quiet premiere, but it did not take long for Tokyo Ghoul to grow loud. Thanks to Ishida’s stunning artwork, the story of Tokyo Ghoul began making a buzz. Tokyo Ghoul‘s original run ended and honestly? It is way past time for someone to give the supernatural series the anime it deserves.

Back in 2014, the world saw Tokyo Ghoul take to the screen. Studio Pierrot made a bid to produce an anime for Ishida, and while things started strong, Tokyo Ghoul has since become a cautionary tale. The Tokyo Ghoul anime had a painful fall from grace, and that slide stands as an insult to Ishida’s solid series.

The Infamous History of Tokyo Ghoul

To understand the need for a Tokyo Ghoul remake, well – we have to look at its original anime. In 2014, Studio Pierrot put together season one of Tokyo Ghoul with a 12-episode run. The show was met with mostly solid praise as its pacing and action sequences captured Ishida’s manga. The animation was fine enough, but as Tokyo Ghoul season two came around, the project fell apart.

Sadly, Tokyo Ghoul √A did not live up to the expectations fans had as it told a totally unique story from the manga. The divergent story not only baffled fans who expected Tokyo Ghoul season two to carry on with Ishida’s manga, but its quality took a drastic drop. The script for Tokyo Ghoul √A is uneven at best, and that is the least of its sins. The follow up to Tokyo Ghoul butchered Ishida’s character designs and was lambasted for its boring animation. In the wake of season two, Tokyo Ghoul went underground for years in the anime industry only to return in 2017 with Tokyo Ghoul:re.

tokyo-ghoul.png

As for the third series, Studio Pierrot rolled back all of season two and began Tokyo Ghoul:re where season one ended. Its story aligned with Ishida’s manga once more, but by then, the damage was done. The team overseeing Tokyo Ghoul:re could not keep fans engaged. From its static animation to its stale character arcs, Tokyo Ghoul closed with a whimper.

Tokyo Ghoul Deserves a Better Anime

In the wake of the Tokyo Ghoul anime, well – fans have been left wanting. Ken Kaneki, the story’s lead, deserved better than the anime he got. Not only that, but Ishida’s art could have been made into something so much more for TV. While the plot of Tokyo Ghoul has its own issues, the manga never slipped when it came to artwork. Ishida’s ethereal art is nothing short of perfect. Ishida somehow found a way to make his work both haunting and thrilling. So when Tokyo Ghoul was given an anime order, fans had rather high expectations.

Tokyo Ghoul season one did a decent job adapting the first phase of the manga, but things went south from there. Tokyo Ghoul √A left the fandom jaded, and despite the staff’s efforts, the anime’s third series only worsened that anger. For Tokyo Ghoul to get the anime it deserves, a blank slate is necessary.

And these days, a remake is very possible. A new studio could do wonders for Ishida’s evocative story. The industry is drawing more eyes than ever. When it comes to style alone, studios like Madhouse and MAPPA have proven they can handle stories with Tokyo Ghoul‘s aesthetic. However, the question is whether the industry even wants to pursue this kind of reboot.

Will a Tokyo Ghoul Remake Ever Happen?

For years now, the Tokyo Ghoul fandom has pleaded for an anime remake, but no such project has been announced. The IP is a tempting one for studios to revisit thanks to its built-in fandom, but there is a flip side. The baggage behind Tokyo Ghoul is heavy because of its infamous anime. Plus, it has not been that long since Tokyo Ghoul wrapped with season three. In 2018, the world watched as Ken closed his run on television, and that memory is fresh with fans. While a remake is very much desired, it would do more harm than good to release one too soon.

The future is never certain with anime, but so long as there is interest, any show is possible. The Tokyo Ghoul fandom is making its pleas known, and they will need to continue doing so if they want a full-on remake. With anime growing globally, studios are keeping tabs on the fandom as they try to find their next big hit. So in a few years, well – don’t be surprised if Tokyo Ghoul does make its way back to the small screen.

Do we need a new Tokyo Ghoul anime? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

As you can see above, the manuscripts posted by Takachiho showcases a series that Toriyama was hoping to publish, but the pitch never got approved. The artist’s iconic art style looks great here. We can see a number of characters in this pitch including a bulbous alien. Filled with high-tech jets and even a sick motorbike, this Toriyama manuscript feels very familiar. It shares hallmarks with Dragon Ball as well as Dr. Slump, so Toriyama knew better than to fix things that weren’t broken.

According to Takachiho, he got these never-before-seen “He had them in his home, stacked up to around his own height, and told me, ‘You can take as many as you like,’ but I was hesitant to take just a few of them, and this is one of them.”

The founder of Studio Nue says he wants to donate these rare manuscripts to a museum, and he has one in mind. A pitch for an Akira Toriyama Museum has been made by the artist’s hometown in light of his death. Takachiho says he would be happy to donate this artwork there free of charge, and he has even more manuscripts in storage.

What Is Next for Dragon Ball?

The full story behind this Toriyama manuscript isn’t clear, but hopefully, a museum will be able to put it on display some day. Any work by Toriyama deserves nothing less if we’re being frank. The artist is a true master of manga, and in the wake of his death, Toriyama’s legacy has grown to new heights. The world mourned together when news of Toriyama’s death was made public in early 2024. From fan-drive wakes to city murals and more, the creator of Dragon Ball and Sand Land was honored by millions. Now, his legacy is bigger than ever and driving new generations of fans.

As far as Dragon Ball is concerned, Toriyama created a franchise that will live long after his death. Son Goku is one of the most recognizable faces in entertainment, after all. The hero is gearing up for a brand-new anime if you did not know. This October, Dragon Ball Daima will go live, and the anime was worked on heavily by Toriyama. From its story to its setting and character designs, Toriyama helped Toei Animation put together the ambitious series. Dragon Ball Daima will premiere on October 11, and Crunchyroll promises to bring the series to stateside fans with a simulcast before its English dub premieres in November.

What do you think about this rare look at Toriyama’s early work? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Even though Vegeta, Prince of the Saiyans, is no longer attempting to destroy the Earth, that hasn’t stopped the former villain from wanting nothing more than to prove he is superior to Son Goku. In Dragon Ball Super, the Saiyan rivalry has helped both Z-Fighters hit new heights as Goku continues to evolve Ultra Instinct and Vegeta has relied on a new transformation dubbed “Ultra Ego”. This rivalry is sure to be a part of the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima, as promotional material has seen the two sparring as adults and sharing the shock of being transformed into miniaturized versions of themselves. A new promo has highlighted the new takes on the Saiyans in the upcoming anime.

While Vegeta has been shown to be a part of the sequel series arriving next month in various trailers, it doesn’t appear as though the Saiyan Prince will be joining Goku on his quest to unravel the Dragon Ball conspiracy. As anime fans have witnessed, Goku is joining the Supreme Kai, along with newcomers Glorio and Panzy, to travel the universe in a scenario similar to that of Dragon Ball GT. Since the series will take place after the destruction of Kid Buu but before the start of Dragon Ball Super, it will be interesting to see if any new developments are revealed between these eternal rivals.

Goku And Vegeta’s Return

Despite the fact that Vegeta and Goku are transformed into pint-sized versions of themselves in Dragon Ball Daima, that might not have an effect on their power levels. As shown in a recent Daima trailer, Goku still has the ability to transform into a Super Saiyan which means he isn’t being brought down to his strength level from when he was a kid. While the same hasn’t been confirmed for Vegeta, Saiyans of a feather can often flock together.

Goku And Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super

Let’s talk about what the Saiyans were up to in Dragon Ball Super’s latest arc. While the manga did revisit the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, it also featured Goku and Vegeta on Whis’ planet interacting with Gohan and Piccolo. In a battle for the ages, Goku’s Ultra Instinct was pitted against Gohan’s Beast Form, and while we didn’t get a definitive victor in this family conflict. Readers did get the opportunity to see not only this big conflict, anime fans also saw Gohan fighting Broly and Vegeta’s Ultra Ego thrown into the mix.

The latest chapter of the manga, Chapter 103, works as a series finale if it chose to be. Following the tragic passing of creator Akira Toriyama, many shonen fans wondered if this and Dragon Ball Daima would act as the shonen’s swan song. Earlier this year, Dragon Ball Super artist Toyotaro has assured fans that the manga will return, though the mangaka has been tight-lipped regarding when we can expect the Z-Fighters to make a comeback. While quite a few plotlines were wrapped thanks to both Super Hero and the Granolah The Survivor Arc, there is one big threat waiting in the wings. Frieza and his new transformation, Black Frieza, remains the biggest threat to the anime heroes and the alien despot is sure to emerge whenever the series returns.

Dragon Ball is closing in on another big series. In less than a month, all eyes will be on Son Goku as he will bring Dragon Ball Daima to the small screen. The anime promises to restart the Saiyan’s adventures after a long break, and Goku look rather different when he returns. Dragon Ball Daima has confirmed Goku will be transformed into a kid once it goes live, and of course, that means the hero needs a new voice actor.

Or rather, Goku needs a returning voice actor. The first English dub trailer for Dragon Ball Daima confirmed the comeback of Stephanie Nadolny. The voice actress oversaw Son Goku in the original Dragon Ball anime, and at last, she is ready to revisit the Saiyan.

Who Is Stephanie Nadolny?

For those unfamiliar with Nadolny, you can watched the English dub of Dragon Ball to see her in action. Years ago, Nadolny voiced Kid Goku in the original anime and revisited the role in Dragon Ball Z for flashbacks while fielding Kid Gohan. In later years, Nadolny would check in to Dragon Ball GT as Kid Goku along with some other roles. However, once Dragon Ball Z Kai went live, the role of Kid Goku was shifted to Colleen Clinkenbeard. The actress has overseen the role for awhile now, but the trailer for Dragon Ball Daima clearly puts Nadolny on the spot.

Outside of Dragon Ball, Nadolny has worked on other anime dubs from Yu Yu Hakusho to Hell Girl and Detective Conan. The majority of her VO work has been with Goku, so it feels nice to have Nadolny back on the saddle. After all, the fans have waited years for Dragon Ball Daima to go live, so expectations for Goku are at a high.

Goku Mini in Dragon Ball Daima

Outside of the English dub, Dragon Ball Daima has already locked in its voice for Goku Mini in Japan. Masako Nozawa has overseen every iteration of Goku since the Saiyan came to television. From Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Super and everywhere in between, the voice actress has seen it all. Nozawa is slated to voice Goku (Mini and Adult) in Dragon Ball Daima, so her legacy remains untouched.

When Does Dragon Ball Daima Premiere?

If you want to check out the English dub of Dragon Ball Daima, you will need to be patient. The anime will make its premiere in Japan on October 11, and sites like Crunchyroll will simulcast the series subbed as usual.

When it comes to the English dub, Toei Animation is set to premiere it in theaters. Fathom Events will bring the first three episodes of Dragon Ball Daima to theaters starting November 10, and they will be dubbed. So if you want to check out the special event, tickets will go on sale before long.

What do you think about this latest Dragon Ball Daima update? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is set to be the next highly anticipated arrival in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, a string of fighting video games that is known for its wild action and intimidating rosters. The upcoming anime video game will hit PCs and consoles on October 11th, meaning shonen fans still have several days to discuss who might be added the impressive roster. In a recent interview with Sparking! Zero’s producer, Jun Furutani, a question was asked regarding characters that have only appeared in Dragon Ball Super’s manga. During the conversation, Furutani answered as to whether the likes of Moro and Granolah will hit Sparking! Zero’s roster.

For those who have been strictly on the anime side of the aisle for all things Dragon Ball Super, you might not be aware of what has been happening in the manga. Following the Tournament of Power and the fight against Broly, the Moro Arc introduced Goku and Vegeta to the powerful titular sorcerer who harbors some dark powers. On top of being quite strong in the power-level department, Moro had the ability to absorb the energy of opponents around him. Luckily, Goku and Vegeta were able to score a win against the villain thanks to teaming up, and Son learning new forms of Ultra Instinct.

imageedit-2-7505157817.jpg

Is Moro Sparking! Zero Bound?

In a recent interview with IGN, Sparking! Zero producer Jun Furutani dodged the question as to whether or not Moro or Granolah will arrive as a part of the fighting game’s roster, “At this point, the short answer is, it’s difficult to talk about these things. Yeah, yeah. Due to various situations. I’m sure you understand.” This might not be the answer that many shonen fans were hoping to hear, but it doesn’t close the book on these manga characters from making an appearance.

While there has been downloadable content featured in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, there is sure to be far more in the future. Recent Dragon Ball video games such as Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 would regularly release quite a lot of DLC. Keeping this in mind, the upcoming fighting game might not be satisfied with its roster that already clears 180 characters.

Moro & Granolah’s Anime Future?

Granolah the bounty hunter and Moro the sorcerer have yet to arrive in any of Dragon Ball’s anime adaptations. While it is possible that they could appear in the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima, the anime’s time period makes it unlikely. The series will take place following the death of Kid Buu but before the start of Dragon Ball Super. The two manga-only characters may appear as cameos but meeting Son Goku and the Z-Fighters prior to their meetings in the manga seems unlikely.

As of the writing of this article, Dragon Ball Super has yet to confirm when it will return to the small screen following the conclusion of the Tournament of Power. Considering how long the Moro and Granolah The Survivor Arcs were, they could warrant quite a few anime episodes when all is said and done. Perhaps once Daima does come to a close, Toei Animation might have a surprise for fans when it comes to Dragon Ball Super’s future.

We’re so back, Dragon Ball fam. If you did not realize, we are less than a month our from the return of Son Goku. On October 11, the world will watch as Dragon Ball Daima brings the anime back to the small screen. The ambitious project marks the next era of the mainline series, so the expectations for Dragon Ball Daima are high. The anime’s first English dub trailer has just gone live, and as you can see, it brings Goku’s new voice to life.

The trailer, which comes from Toei Animation, showcases how the English dub of Dragon Ball Daima will feel. There is no new footage in the clip, but it does confirm a theory for fans. Since Dragon Ball shared Goku Mini with the world, many wondered how the hero would sound in the anime. The hero definitely sounds younger, and in the English dub, that would necessitate a new voice actor.

Well, it sounds like the anime has found its new Goku. The voice of Goku Mini sounds very much like Stephanie Nadolny. The voice actor voiced Kid Goku in the original Dragon Ball anime, and she revisited the role in several Dragon Ball games. Toei Animation has not shared an official cast list for the English dub as of yet, but Dragon Ball fans were quick to recognize Nadolny’s voice.

When Does Dragon Ball Daima Premiere?

If you want to check out Dragon Ball Daima ASAP, the countdown is on. The long-awaited series will premiere on October 11 in Japan, and it will be simulcast in the United States. Crunchyroll will handle the anime’s release as usual. But when it comes to the English dub, fans will have to wait until November to peep its premiere.

After all, Toei Animation is teaming with Fathom Events to bring Dragon Ball Daima to theaters. On November 10, the first three dubbed episodes of Dragon Ball Daima will be shown in theaters across North America. The special event will run from November 10 – 13, and Toei Animation will bring the English dub to streaming sometime after the theatrical window closes.

“We are thrilled to bring the world dub premiere Dragon Ball Daima to U.S. theaters this November,” Masayuki Endo, President and CEO of Toei Animation Inc, shared in a new statement. “This special theatrical event offers U.S. fans an exclusive opportunity to not only be among the first to watch the never-before-seen English dub of ‘Dragon Ball Daima  but also to experience the start of this exciting new story by creator Akira Toriyama on the big screen. Diehard Dragon Ballers will not want to miss it!”

What to Expect From Dragon Ball Daima

As for what Dragon Ball Daima  will bring to the table, Son Goku has a lot on his plate. The anime has not locked in its timeline, but trailers suggest the story takes place after the Majin Buu saga but before Dragon Ball Super. The show will follow Goku as he and his friends are targeted by a rogue wish. Escaped denizens from the Demon Realm will make their way to Earth, and after nabbing the dragon balls, they wish for Goku and his comrades to take new mini forms. From there, it will fall to Goku to revert the wish by gathering the relics once again, and he will have to traverse the Demon Realm to do so.

The new anime marks the show’s first outing since Dragon Ball Super wrapped in 2018. Fans have been waiting six years for Son Goku to return to the small screen, so his comeback is already a must-see. And by the looks of it, Goku Mini will make another big comeback clear if Naldony is the one stepping up to voice the hero.

What do you think about this latest Dragon Ball Daima teaser? Are you hyped for Goku’s comeback? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Tien joins the fight in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has exactly 182 characters in the launch lineup, a roster that’s impressive for a number of reasons. For one, having 182 fighters means Sparking! Zero has more characters to start with than any Dragon Ball game in history, and it’ll already have more characters than any of the Budokai Tenkaichi games ever got in the past. But in addition to that already notably milestone, Dragon Ball fans are now realizing that the number of characters wasn’t a coincidence at all and that it seems to be one big Dragon Ball Easter egg decades in the making.

If the 182-character roster stirred something in your Dragon Ball memories, that’s because it appears to be a callback to one of the episodes from the original Dragon Ball series. More specifically, you have to venture back to Dragon Ball Episode 84 which was titled “Rivals and Arrivals” in the English version of the show and helped kick off the Tien Saga. Krillin, Yamcha, and more arrive for the World Martial Arts Tournament and encounter Tien, Chiatzu, and Master Shen, but it’s actually from an otherwise unmemorable character that we get the Dragon Ball reference.

Towards the very end of the episode, the announcer who welcomed everyone to the World Martial Arts Tournament thanked them for their attendance and laid out the schedule for what the tournament will look like moving forward. The announcer also said that that specific World Martial Arts Tournament would be the biggest one yet with — you guessed it — 182 fighters in attendance.

“This one promises to be the biggest yet, with a record-high attendance of one hundred eighty-two fighters,” the announcer said in the episode.

Twitter user BigMeruemFan shared a screenshot of the find to show the scene in question for those who don’t have easy access to streaming Dragon Ball. The dialogue is heard in the recap in Episode 85, but you can also hear it at the very end of Episode 84.

https://x.com/BigMeruemFan/status/1836765535276589342

It’s pretty much impossible for this to be a coincidence, so we can pretty safely assume that this was the intention all along while Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero‘s roster was being finalized. You’ll see some posts from Bandai Namco saying that the game has 181 fighters at launch, but that’s only because the version of Goku from Dragon Ball Daima is considered to be the “surprise” character that’s part of the preorder bonus.

While it’s unclear when this 182-fighter goal was established, it’s likely the devs had to dig deep to make the launch roster into the Easter egg that it seems to be. We can see that through characters like Dr. Wheelo and the Frieza Force Soldier which aren’t exactly fan-favorites but apparently made the cut to make the Dragon Ball nod possible.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will be out on October 11th, so expect to see all these 182 characters then with even more on the way afterwards as DLCs.

October is set up to be quite a big month for the Dragon Ball franchise. On the anime front, the shonen series is returning to the small screen with Dragon Ball Daima, an anime that will take place following the death of Kid Buu but before the arrival of Dragon Ball Super. The anime world isn’t the only place where Goku and the Z-Fighters will arrive next month as Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero will hit consoles and personal computers on October 11th. To further build hype for the continuation of the Budokai Tenkaichi series, the upcoming Bandai Namco video game has released a trailer paying homage to Cartoon Network’s Toonami.

It’s impossible to deny the influence that the Dragon Ball franchise has had in boosting anime in North America. Dragon Ball Z first aired on Cartoon Network’s Toonami on August 31st, 1998, helping to forge a platform for the programming block to air some of the biggest anime released. Ever since, Dragon Ball and its anime series have held a firm spot on Cartoon Network. Throughout Toonami’s history, the platform has created “bumpers” that would normally see voice actors Steve Blum and Peter Cullen creating legendary promotional material. It’s clear from the recent trailer that Bandai Namco has a soft spot for Toonami.

Sparking! Zero’s Toonami Tribute

With only a few weeks until the new fighting game releases, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero revealed its massive cast of characters that gamers will be able to choose from. The cast is a fantastic representation of the franchise, pulling characters from the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Daima, and Dragon Ball GT. On top of its imposing cast, Sparking! Zero also is planning to retell the story of the franchise while letting fans create “What If” scenarios of their own, meaning that this game will offer something entirely new for fans of the shonen series.

Toonami’s Future

To this day, Toonami continues to play a big role at Cartoon Network, becoming a part of Adult Swim and also airing “retro” anime series as part of a new programming block dubbed “Toonami Rewind”. The platform is still airing Dragon Ball, via Dragon Ball Z: Kai but there are still plenty of anime franchises hitting Toonami. Rick And Morty: The Anime, Demon Slayer, One Piece, My Hero Academia, and many more. This spooky season, Toonami is planning to unveil Junji Ito’s Uzumaki, the highly anticipated anime arrival that fans have been waiting years to see.

Dragon Ball’s Future

To dive further into Dragon Ball Daima, the series see Goku and his allies transformed into “mini” versions of themselves, leaving many anime fans to think of Dragon Ball GT. The side story featured a very similar premise though the Grand Tour did only feature Son Goku being transformed into a kid. In recent promotional material for Daima, the upcoming Toei Animation production featured the Demon Realm, a locale that had a major role in video games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse and the series Dragon Ball Heroes. All of these factors have anime fans believing that creator Akira Toriyama might have been trying to put his own spin on these two “non-canon” series in the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball has a lot on its plate this year. Next month, the world will watch as Son Goku returns to television with a long-awaited debut. Dragon Ball Daima is set to premiere in early October, and beyond that, we have a big game on the horizon. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will be here in under a month. And to cap things off this fall, Shueisha has confirmed a new Dragon Ball manga is on the horizon.

That is right, gang. Dragon Ball has a new manga project in the works, and it has roped in a familiar artist. Toyotaro has been asked to ink a one-shot for Dragon Ball Super Divers, and this project will mark the manga’s newest publication. Currently, the one-shot is set to launch in October with the next issue of V-Jump, and there are no plans to turn the one-shot into a full series. At least, not that we know of.

What Is Dragon Ball Super Divers

You might be wondering what Dragon Ball Super Divers is, and that is a fair question. The series was announced earlier this year, and it will hit arcades in Japan soon. Developed by Dimps, Dragon Ball Super Divers marks the seventh Dragon Ball Z arcade trading card game, and it follows in the steps of Super Dragon Ball Heroes. The upcoming game was announced back in May 2024, so Toyotaro’s manga is meant to hype the release of the game.

Little is known about the story of Dragon Ball Super Divers, but fans are eager to see it go live. The IP is no stranger to arcade card games, after all. Back in 2005, Dragon Ball toed into the lucrative industry with Data Carddass Dragon Ball Z, and the series has grown in the past 19 years. Dragon Ball Heroes made waves globally with its launch in 2010, and Super Dragon Ball Heroes capped that run with its 2019 launch. Now, Dragon Ball Super Divers is set to bring the arcade series to a new level.

The Future of Dragon Ball

While Toyotaro works on his Dragon Ball Super Divers manga, the rest of the IP is staying busy. The biggest project Goku has on hand is his upcoming anime. Dragon Ball Daima is slated to premiere on October 11, and fans will be able to watch its simulcast on Crunchyroll. The new anime comes six years after Dragon Ball Super wrapped the Tournament of Power. In this new title, Son Goku will find himself transformed into a kid after denizens from the Demon Realm make it to Earth, and he will have to go on an adventure to turn himself (and his friends) back to normal.

And of course, Dragon Ball fans have Dragon Ball Sparking Zero to look forward to. The game, which drops on October 11 as well, is the next main console title for Goku. With over 180 playable characters on roster, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero looks to be the ultimate game for fans both new and old. So if you want to check out the AAA title, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The team at Toei Animation is just as eager to bring the show to fans, and now, Dragon Ball Daima is hyping its launch with a special New York Comic Con teaser.

On October 11, the world will get the chance to scope out Dragon Ball Daima, and then the show will pack up its things for New York. Today, the team at Toei Animation announced Son Goku is taking over the convention. According to NYCC, Dragon Ball Daima will host a “special panel” on October 17, and it will feature some big surprises.

Dragon Ball Daima Takes Over NYCC

“Get ready for the DRAGON BALL DAIMA SPECIAL PANEL at NYCC 2024! Join us on Oct 17 at 12:45 PM on Empire Stage for an action-packed session featuring exciting guests, an epic screening, and all things Dragon Ball,” the convention shared earlier today. The Empire Stage marks one of the convention’s biggest stages, and fans are already eager to see what goodies NYCC has in store. By the time Dragon Ball Daima takes over the event, episode one will have gone live, so we may get a teaser for things to come.

Given the hype surrounding Dragon Ball‘s return to television, this event is hardly surprising. Son Goku last graced television in early 2018 as Dragon Ball Super closed the Tournament of Power. In the years since, the Saiyan continued his story on paper thanks to the Dragon Ball Super manga, but that is about it. Besides a slew of video game updates and Dragon Ball movies, things have been quiet for Goku. Now, the hero is gearing up for their long-awaited retur, and Dragon Ball Daima will be somewhat familiar to fans.

What Is Dragon Ball Daima All About?

After all, Dragon Ball Daima will follow Goku as the hero is struck by a rogue wish that throws him into a mini body. It seems all of Goku’s gang will be impacted by this wish, and according to trailers so far, the Demon Realm appears to be behind the shift. After being sealed for ages, the Demon Realm will open a crack in Dragon Ball Daima, and its denizens will wreak havoc on Earth. With the help of the Kaioshin, Goku will be forced to find the now-corrupt dragon balls to return to his normal self, and that journey will take Goku into the heart of the Demon Realm.

If this story does sound familiar to you, well – it is an odd mix of Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Heroes. The former series, as many know, followed Goku as he went on a grand adventure after being turned into a child. As for Dragon Ball Heroes, the side series has long deal with the Demon Realm and its villains. Akira Toriyama, the late creator of Dragon Ball, worked with his team to mash the stories together to create the franchise’s next entry. Now, its big release is upon us, and Dragon Ball Daima will celebrate its premiere with a big NYCC surprise.

What do you think about this Dragon Ball Daima update? Are you ready to reunite with Son Goku? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

When it comes to the biggest villains introduced in Dragon Ball Z, anime fans routinely mention Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu as examples. While Buu helped bring the shonen series to an end, the series wouldn’t be what it is today without Cell and Frieza leading the charge in their fight against the Z-Fighters. While we have never seen the two antagonists canonically do battle, it appears that the highly anticipated fighting game, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, will see the pair fighting one another. In a new video, the Z-villains get ready to battle one another in a fight that many anime fans have been dying to see.

One of the biggest reasons that Frieza was never able to have a tete-a-tete with Dr. Gero’s creation was that the villain was dead when Cell first emerged. Following his death at the hands of Future Trunks, it was only until Dragon Ball Super that the destroyer of Planet Vegeta was wished back to life. The shonen sequel series didn’t just bring Frieza back from the dead but it did bring Cell back to the spotlight, albeit in a very different manner. Rather than seeing the biological nightmare wished back to life, the latest faction of the Red Ribbon Army created a creature known as “Cell Max”, increasing the power of the Z-villain but losing the personality that was part of Cell.

Frieza Vs. Cell: Who Would Win?

At this point in Dragon Ball Super, it would be an easy bet that Frieza would take home a victory if Cell were brought back to life. As manga readers know, the shonen series saw Frieza discovering a Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Thanks to the specific locale, the alien despot was able to cram in years of training, making him the new strongest being in the universe and garnering a new transformation dubbed “Black Frieza”. In this new Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero clip, we see Frieza and Cell preparing to battle and cracking wise regarding their series’ resurrections.

Could Frieza Or Cell Be In Daima?

While Dragon Ball Daima will take place following the death of Kid Buu but before the start of Dragon Ball Super, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the two anime villains are restricted from making an appearance. The Z-Fighters haven’t been shy about venturing into the afterlife in the past, as the anime has featured Cell and Frieza stewing in the underworld in the past. One of the big elements that was featured in recent Daima trailers is the arrival of the Demon Realm in the main continuity, hinting at a supernatural aspect that could bring back deceased antagonists.

When Have Frieza And Cell Met?

In Dragon Ball Z’s anime adaptation, there were anime-only scenes that featured both Cell and Frieza watching the fight against Kid Buu, lamenting how powerful Son Goku had become. Another major example that many Dragon Ball fans are aware of is the Super 17 Arc of Dragon Ball GT. Thanks to the creation of new android Super 17, the underworld was burst open and various villains were resurrected as a result. During the spin-off sequel, a child-sized Goku fought against Frieza and Cell, making short work of two of Z’s strongest foes. At this point, there has never been a canon fight between these two villains but Dragon Ball fans are still crossing their fingers that this brawl might arrive in the shonen’s future.

Is Janemba coming to Dragon Ball Daima?

Dragon Ball Daima will be expanding the Dragon Ball world with a new anime later this Fall, and it’s going to be the perfect time to bring the fan favorite movie villain, Janemba, into the official canon. Dragon Ball will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the late Akira Toriyama’s original manga series first hitting the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and one of the big ways things are kicking off is with the debut of a brand new anime series. This new series will send off a new version of Goku on a whole new adventure through a new region.

Dragon Ball Daima will see Goku and Supreme Kai needing to explore the depths of the Demon Realm in order to get to the bottom of a new conspiracy that has turned them and the rest of the Z Fighters into Mini versions of themselves, and with it they will come across all sorts of new allies and foes. While this is already an exciting prospect as fans get ready to meet all sorts of new additions to the overall Dragon Ball canon, there’s one big name from the past that would be a perfect way to cap it all off in a final battle. Imagine if Janemba shows up for the final clash.

dragon-ball-daima-canon-janemba.jpg
Is Janemba coming to Dragon Ball Daima?

Dragon Ball Goes to Hell

While there are still many mysteries as to what fans could look forward to seeing in the new series, it has been confirmed that Dragon Ball Daima will be exploring the Demon Realm with its new adventure. While Hell and the Demon Realm have been seen on a few occasions in the Dragon Ball franchise before (even more when considering off shoots like Dragon Ball GT and Super Dragon Ball Heroes), Dragon Ball Daima will be offering the first extensive time spent in this mysterious region. And it’s already teasing some dangerous looking demons.

The promotional materials for Dragon Ball Daima have revealed some of the new characters designed by the late Akira Toriyama, and it’s going to introduced some new layers to the canon. Much like fans saw with the Gods and Angels introduced in Dragon Ball Super, there is already a clear hierarchy within the new Demon Realm denizens. While we’ve only seen brief glances of these new characters, Gomah, Degesu and Dr. Arinsu, one of them is in charge and likely will pose a huge threat before it all comes to an end

Who is Janemba?

The building blocks for bringing Janemba into the official canon with Dragon Ball Daima are all right there in the foundation for the series as well. In Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, Janemba was introduced to the series as the epitome of evil that had flowed out of a broken soul cleaning machine. The evil within humanity had pooled together over a long duration of time, and formed the heart of a monster that took over a demon’s body and became the massive monster that Goku is forced to fight early on in the movie.

This massive yellow monster then morphs into a more human-sized enemy, and the fight against this demon in Hell starts to warp reality. The film is often held in high regard with fans because of the fierce threat Janemba poses, but also because of all the potential that comes from Janemba’s origin. Because he’s from Hell, the defeated enemies from Dragon Ball‘s past begin to spill out and cause trouble all over again. It’s something you can retread with Dragon Ball Daima, but make it more intense because it’s harder for the Z Fighters to defend themselves in their mini forms

Why Dragon Ball Should Make Janemba Canon

As fans had seen with the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly and the Dragon Ball Super manga materials that followed it, Toriyama was not above the idea of taking a villain formerly only seen in the movies and make them an official part of the story. It’s paid off well for Broly’s case as he’s now one of the few Saiyans left who can help defend the Earth alongside Goku and Vegeta with his own unique Super Saiyan powers, and there’s a bright future for the character now that he’s been brought into the fold in full.

But he wasn’t the only new addition to the canon given a makeover in that movie. Importantly, Goku and Vegeta’s Gogeta fusion was not only officially introduced, but given a huge power boost with the addition of Super Saiyan Blue on top of the already strong fused fighter. This form was also a formerly a transformation exclusive to the movies as it made its debut in Fusion Reborn as a final way for Goku and Vegeta to close the gap against Janemba. The demon was then dispatched quickly afterward thanks to Gogeta’s seemingly holy power, but what’s important is that with Gogeta now in the official canon. It’s time for Janemba to join too.

How to Make Janemba Canon

The question from that point on, however, is how to make Janemba an official part of the Dragon Ball canon. With this full dive into the Demon Realm, it’s the perfect opportunity to pull the trigger on such a vicious and literally devilish villain. Just as how Broly was incorporated into the canon with a new origin and full makeover, it can be the same case for Janemba. Just bring the demon as a final form for a character already seen in the series, and turn them into a Janemba like beast.

In this way, you get all the benefits of bringing back such an iconic movie villain but you also avoid all of the pitfalls from the original version of the character. Janemba wasn’t the deepest villain in the Dragon Ball roster (he didn’t really talk he just made noises), and while it was perfect for the condensed runtime of a movie, but it wouldn’t run in the context of a full series like Dragon Ball Daima. If Janemba turns out to be a final form of some new villain, or is made an intelligent monster in his own right, then it would be a new villain perfect for Toriyama’s official canon.

As Dragon Ball Daima is the final anime made with Toriyama’s guidance in the story, bringing this villain into the fold would be a perfect final stamp on the franchise. We’ll see for ourselves soon enough when the new anime premieres on October 11th, and streams with Crunchyroll for fans outside of Japan.

Shenron in Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball Daima will be bringing back Shenron for the new anime series, and some new promotional materials have offered a new look at the legendary dragon’s big comeback. Dragon Ball will be celebrating its 40th anniversary later this Fall as Shueisha is going all out for the commemoration of the late Akira Toriyama’s original manga making its debut in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Dragon Ball Daima will be setting out a new version of Goku and the Supreme Kai into the Demon Realm in a new adventure, and it’s all starting off with a mysterious conspiracy.

Dragon Ball Daima has been teasing through its promotional materials that it will be kicking off with a new wish on the Dragon Balls. Whether it’s going to be the Dragon Balls we know or potentially a different set exclusive to this new anime, this likely means we’ll be seeing Shenron in action again. It’s just not a Dragon Ball series without a Shenron sighting of some kind, and now fans can get a much better look at the new take on Shenron in Dragon Ball Daima with some new promotional art for the legendary being.

What Will Shenron Do in Dragon Ball Daima?

Shenron’s role in the Dragon Ball franchise has changed slightly over the years since the first time the being appeared in the manga. First Shenron was a being that they could only dream of making a wish on after collecting the Dragon Balls, then Shenron became the way to save everyone after death. The scope of Shenron’s wishes grew over the course of Dragon Ball’s run, and even started to shrink in ways as Dragon Ball Super revealed that Bulma had been using these wishes as beauty treatments in her later years.

It’s gotten to the point where Goku and the others have started to heavily rely on these Dragon Balls, and they are still very dangerous in someone else’s hands. This new conspiracy at the start of the series teases that the Dragon Balls will be used to turn Goku and the others into Mini versions of themselves. It’s what sparks the journey into the Demon Realm, and likely crossing paths with some new demonic villains never seen in the series before.

When Is Dragon Ball Daima Coming Out?

But it won’t be too much longer before we all get to see how it shakes out as Dragon Ball Daima will be officially premiering on October 11th in Japan. The new series will then be exclusively streaming with Crunchyroll for fans in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Featuring an original story and characters from the late Dragon Ball franchise creator Akira Toriyama, Masako Nozawa will be leading the series as the voice of the new Goku Mini alongside new additions to the franchise such as Yumiko Kobayashi as Supreme Kai (Mini), Koki Uchiyama as Glorio, Fairouz Ai as Panzy, Showtaro Morikubo as Gomah, Junya Enoki as Degesu, and Yoko Hikasa as Dr. Arinsu.

Dragon Ball Daima will also feature the opening theme titled “Jaka Jaan” as produced by Zedd, with vocals performed by CLIEVY and KEEN of C&K. The ending theme is titled “NAKAMA,” as also produced by Zedd with vocals performed by AI. Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki are directing Dragon Ball Daima for Toei Animation with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru adapting Toriyama’s designs for animation, and Yuuko Kakihara supervising and writing the scripts. Soon we’ll get to see Shenron’s role in all of the chaos.

It is hard to believe, but it has been over six years since Dragon Ball hit the small screen with any new content. The fandom parted with Dragon Ball Super in early 2016, leaving Son Goku to carry on his adventures in the manga while the anime sat in silence. Of course, the series’ absence hit fans hard, and their wait has made Dragon Ball Daima all the more important. Next month, the anime will make its grand debut, and Goku will be in tow as always. But after watching trailers for Dragon Ball Daima, fans are starting to ask… Is Goku about to get a new voice actor?

The whole debacle came to life when the premise of Dragon Ball Daima was made public. The show will mark the next installment of the mainline series, and it will follow Son Goku as wish puts him back in his kid body. Other heroes like Vegeta and Piccolo will suffer the same fate, so there is something amiss in Universe 7. Dragon Ball Daima will follow Goku as he and the Kaioshin try to restore order to Earth, but if Kid Goku is back, then something will have to give with the hero’s voice.

I mean, let’s be honest – Adult Goku and Kid Goku sound nothing alike. Actor Sean Schemmel has a lock on the hero’s mature voice as he has overseen the Saiyan for years. But now that Kid Goku is coming back, who is going to take care of the hero?

Who Will Voice Kid Goku?

When it comes to Kid Goku, the Japanese dub of Dragon Ball Daima has it easy. Masako Nozawa has voiced the Saiyan since Dragon Ball first hit television, and that is not her only role. Nozawa has voiced Goku in his Kid and Adult form plus she’s done the same for Gohan and Goten. When it comes to Goku’s family, Nozawa has a lock on the bloodline, so fans can expect Nozawa to oversee Kid Goku and Adult Goku as Dragon Ball Daima nears.

However, the English dub is a different story entirely. There are two voice actors who have experience voicing Kid Goku in the anime. And of course, Toei Animation could always find a third. However, fans are hopeful that Dragon Ball will bring back one of its former stars for this new anime, so our options narrow to Stephanie Nadolny and Colleen Clinkenbeard.

dragon-ball-daima-goku-mini.jpg
Goku (Mini) in Dragon Ball Daima

If you did not know, Nadolny voiced Kid Goku in the original Dragon Ball anime, and she returned for Dragon Ball GT. The actress also voiced Kid Gohan during the early days of Dragon Ball Z. However, when Dragon Ball Z Kai was being dubbed, these roles went to Clinkenbeard. The actress started voicing Kid Goku in 2010 after playing a number of background characters in the anime since Dragon Ball Z.

Both Naldony and Clinkenbeard have claim to Kid Goku, but no word has been given on whether they will star in Dragon Ball Daima. The anime is keeping its dub details close to chest. But given the rise of simuldubs in anime, fans are hopeful Dragon Ball Daima will deliver something special upon its launch.

When Does Dragon Ball Daima Premiere?

If you are waiting for Dragon Ball Daima to debut, you should know we are less than a month from its launch. The anime is slated to hit Japan on October 11, and Crunchyroll has confirmed it will simulcast the anime. An early premiere for Dragon Ball Daima will hit Japan in early October, so fans reactions will flood social media before long. You are officially on notice for spoilers because Dragon Ball Daima‘s premiere is coming, and the fandom has been waiting six long years to geek out over Goku since his last TV appearance.

What do you think the dub of Dragon Ball Daima will look like? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Super Saiyan Goku in Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball Daima will be debuting a brand new anime series later this Fall, and it should introduce a new Super Saiyan form fit for the new Demon Realm. Dragon Ball will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the late Akira Toriyama’s original manga making its debut with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine this October, and it’s going all out with a brand new anime series. This new series will be featuring a brand new story not seen in any of the original TV anime or manga releases, and that means there is plenty of opportunity for brand new transformations.

With each entry of the Dragon Ball franchise introducing a new transformation of some kind, it’s certainly feasible that it will be the same case here. While the central hook already has a new transformation to get fans watching as Goku has been turned into his chibi like “Mini” form at the start of it all, there are still many secrets Dragon Ball Daima has under its sleeves. One of them should be a new Super Saiyan transformation, and even better if its a transformation that hits demonic new powers fit for the Demon Realm.

dragon-ball-daima-super-saiyan-goku.jpg
Super Saiyan Goku in Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball Daima’s New Transformation

Ever since Goku first transformed into a Great Ape in the original Dragon Ball series, transformations have been a key part of every single Dragon Ball anime and manga release. Dragon Ball Z introduced the Super Saiyan form as a new base, and things only expanded from there with Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (and the Ultra forms) in Dragon Ball Super, and even the “Evil Saiyan” forms in Dragon Ball Heroes. And that might be the place to draw inspiration from for the newest release in the franchise as it ventures into the depths of Hell.

Dragon Ball might have experimented with the Demon Realm in the past, but Dragon Ball Daima will be the franchise’s first real foray into the realm and what secrets it might hold. The new anime has been teased to start with a mysterious conspiracy that turns Goku and the others into Mini versions of themselves, and thus Goku and the Supreme Kai head into the Demon Realm in order to find the source of that conspiracy. This means tons of new allies and foes across this mysterious new region being explored.

Why Should It Be Demonic Power?

Dragon Ball Super sort of opened the door to this, and Dragon Ball Daima can continue exploring this idea further. Even if this new series is set before the events of Dragon Ball Super (which it’s increasingly looking to be the case with a missing Beerus and Whis), it can still play with the next realm of potential powers. Dragon Ball introduced the God forms and the idea of these additional tiers of power to the franchise as Goku and Vegeta reached higher heights than they ever had reached in the franchise before thanks to these new power ups.

The God and Ultra forms came with the understanding of the Gods and Angels around them, and so they were able to tap into an energy that they could now feel simply because their bodies were adjusting to it. So with this next transformation, take that idea and just flip it around. Rather than being able to feel and produce manipulate God Ki thanks to being around these higher beings, Goku should be able to produce and manipulate a new demonic ki when he’s around more of the demons and monstrous figures in the Demon Realm.

If Goku is able to plunge into a new depth of power thanks to being exposed to demonic power in the Demon Realm, then he should unlock a new Super Saiyan form as a result of this new exposure. As for what it could look like, there’s a chance it’ll be an uncontrollable kind of berserk form given the nature of this potential demonic power. There’s already a precedent for this kind of power as well as the Evil Saiyan aura and berserk power in Super Dragon Ball Heroes is kind of along the lines of what this form could look like.

dragon-ball-daima-goku-mini-kamehameha.jpg
Goku Mini fires a Kamehameha in Dragon Ball Daima

What Does Dragon Ball’s Next Super Saiyan Form Look Like?

It should be something that Goku is battling against to control at first. Like how Super Saiyam 4 was in Dragon Ball GT, a Super Saiyan Demon transformation could be Dragon Ball Daima‘s version of this new form. Perhaps it could take Goku to an uncontrollable new level of power, and part of getting to a proper new version of the form would be Goku fully taking control of that power. Taking it even further, this could be even the way to backdoor Super Saiyan 4 into the official canon of the franchise too.

It could be a new demonic, beastly form that Goku takes on to break him out of the Mini form (just like his Kid self in Dragon Ball GT), and maybe it’ll just look like Toriyama’s fully realized version of what Super Saiyan 4 could be. Either way, we’re likely in for some kind of new Super Saiyan form with Dragon Ball Daima. And a demonic version of that power would be the freshest and most fun given how the franchise has been spending the last few years with the gods and angels instead. Instead of Super Saiyan God, it’s Super Saiyan Demon this time.

Dragon Ball Daima will be streaming with Crunchyroll beginning on October 11th.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will be introducing a new voice actor for Dragon Ball GT’s version of Kid Goku, but does this give an idea of how it’s going to be handled in Dragon Ball Daima? Dragon Ball will be returning to screens in two huge ways later this Fall as part of the celebration for the 40th anniversary of the late Akira Toriyama’s original manga debut. The franchise will not only be debuting a brand new anime series with the premiere of Dragon Ball Daima, but is also coming back with a new video game release in the long running Sparking! series.

As both Dragon Ball Daima and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero prepare for their upcoming releases (which happen to be on the same day in the United States), each of these new releases has been sharing more of a look at what they will be offering to fans over the last couple of weeks. The latest trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero confirmed that characters from Dragon Ball GT will be playable in the new title, but also confirmed that GT’s version of Kid Goku will also feature a new voice actor behind them as well.

Who Is Goku GT’s New Voice Actor?

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero debuts a new voice actor for Goku GT with a ton of new voice lines for the character in the coming English language version of the game. While it’s not explicitly revealed who this is (or confirmed), it’s likely the current voice actor for Kid Gohan in the main Dragon Ball series as well, Colleen Clinkenbeard given the similarities between voices. This would also fall in line with how the Dragon Ball franchise has previously handled Kid Goku and Kid Gohan’s voices under the previous actress, Stephanie Naldony.

Naldony was the original voice actor for Goku in the Dragon Ball anime, and was the voice for Kid Gohan ahead of Dragon Ball Z Kai during her time with Funimation and ADV Films. Clinkenbeard has taken over the Kid Gohan role in Dragon Ball Z Kai and following video game releases, and now it seems it has naturally expanded for Kid Goku’s voice as the Dragon Ball GT version of the character. But the larger question for fans of the Dragon Ball anime, what will this mean for the upcoming debut of Dragon Ball Daima next month?

dragon-ball-daima-kid-goku-voice-actor.jpg

Who Voices Goku in Dragon Ball Daima?

Dragon Ball Daima will be releasing worldwide beginning on October 11th. The Japanese language release will feature a returning Masako Nozawa, and the episodes will be streaming with English, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles on Crunchyroll for fans in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. But as of the time of this publication, the anime has yet to confirm whether or not there will be an English language dub release for this series as well.

It’s highly likely that this anime will get an English dub, and so it’s only a matter of time before that cast is revealed in full as well. With Dragon Ball Daima making Goku a kid again with a new conspiracy transforming him into a new “Mini” version of himself, it has raised some questions about who the new Goku Mini voice actor could be. If Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is an indication of which way the franchise might be leaning towards, Goku GT’s new voice actor could be who we see as Goku Mini in the new anime this October too. Then again, we could also be in for some surprises.

Since releasing promotional material for Dragon Ball Daima, fans of the beloved shonen franchise have been sharing their theories about what new, and perhaps old, elements will make up the next anime chapter of the series. In the latest trailer, Daima confirmed that a locale that was a steady part of the Dragon Ball Heroes series, the Demon Realm, would play a significant role in Goku’s new quest. With this familiar environment from the spin-off series, there’s a good chance that characters from the anime underworld might be arriving in the canon proper. Considering Towa and Mira’s significance in Heroes, the demonic duo’s time might be nigh this October.

To start, let’s do a breakdown of the Dragon Ball Heroes series. First starting as an arcade game released exclusively in Japan, the spin-off story would go on to receive its own manga and anime adaptation. Whereas Heroes might not have been considered “canon”, this worked in its favor as it was able to take wild swings that the likes of Dragon Ball Super never could. Aside from featuring heroes and villains from the Dragon Ball Z movies and side material, it also introduced new demonic villains to the franchise. Towa and Mira were two of the biggest examples.

Dragon Ball: Who Are Mira And Towa?

Ironically enough, Towa isn’t just a prominent player in the Demon Realm, she is also the younger sister of Dabura, the prominent villain in Dragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu Saga. Unlike her brother, Towa doesn’t have a high power level to do battle with Goku and the other Z-Fighters physically, but rather, her strength comes from her superior intellect. While working in the Demon Realm, she actually creates Mira to be her bodyguard, splicing him together thanks to some prominent characters’ DNA and the technology of Dr. Gero.

Both demons have appeared in several Dragon Ball video games, including the popular Xenoverse series that allowed player to create their own characters and join Heroes’ Time Patrol. In the latest anime spin-off series, Super Dragon Ball Heroes, the pair of demons birthed a new threat in Fu. Fu was a brilliant scientist who also had the power level to back up his plans, looking to eradicate the Z-Fighters and get revenge for the Demon Realm following its string of losses against both Goku and the Time Patrol.

imageedit-9-4282652023.jpg

Why Would Daima Work To Introduce The Demonic Duo?

From what we’ve seen of Dragon Ball Daima so far, Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation apparently had a plan in mind when forging this unique anime series. When the first trailer dropped, many anime fans believed that it was taking the vast majority of its influence from Dragon Ball GT since Goku and his comrades-in-arms were being transformed into younger versions of themselves. Introducing the Demon Realm in the recent trailer seems like a nod to the Heroes series, as it has been a major part of the franchise nearly everywhere but the main continuity.

Towa and Mira make for an interesting antagonist pair, believing themselves superior to those around them and combining the idea of brains and brawn to fight against the Z-Fighters. While it would seem unlikely that the new iterations of the characters would be exact doubles of their Heroes’ originators, Toriyama and Toei will need demons to populate the Demon Realm and these two would certainly fit the bill.

It’s official, Dragon Ball fans. We are less than a month from the release of Dragon Ball Daima whether you can believe it or not. The show promises to usher forward a new era for Son Goku and his friends as a rogue wish turns the heroes into minis on a mission. Slated to debut on October 11 in Japan, fans have been waiting to learn whether Dragon Ball Daima will stream in the United States. And now, we know Crunchyroll will be the home for Dragon Ball Daima.

“[Dragon Ball Daima] will be available to stream with subtitles on Crunchyroll starting October 11 in the United States, Canada, Latin America including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia, followed by new weekly subtitled episodes simulcast with the Japanese TV broadcast,” the streaming service announced today. At this point, no info has been given on an English dub for Dragon Ball Daima, but fans are hopeful it is in the works.

So, What Is Dragon Ball Daima?

Now if you are not familiar with Dragon Ball Daima, you should know the anime marks the next canon installation of the series. Back in 2018, the fandom said farewell to the Dragon Ball Super TV anime, and Toei Animation has floated the series with a few films and its manga. Now, the franchise is shifting its focus to Dragon Ball Daima, and this upcoming anime has netizens locked in.

After all, Dragon Ball Daima will follow Son Goku and his friends as they go about their lives on Earth following the Majin Buu saga. For once, it seems things are all good, but that changes when a wish is made on the dragon balls. From what trailers have shown, it seems several demons managed to escape the Demon Realm and corrupt the dragon balls with a wish that turns Goku (and his entire gang) into minis. This wish prompts Goku to go on a mission with the Kai to reverse the wish by collecting the dragon balls once more. But this time, Goku will have to contend with the Demon Realm if he wants to return to normal.

What’s the Big Deal About Dragon Ball Daima?

Clearly, this new Dragon Ball series has a wild mission for Goku, and fans are ready to see the Saiyan go off. After all, it has been more than six years since the hero hit up television. Sure, Dragon Ball Super has carried on with two films since its TV series ended, but nothing can top a weekly Dragon Ball series. The premiere of Dragon Ball Daima has been a long-awaited one, and that is even putting it lightly.

Plus, this upcoming show holds a special place in the fandom’s heart thanks to Akira Toriyama. The series’ creator passed away suddenly this year, leaving the world bereft by the loss. Toriyama spoke about Dragon Ball Daima several times before his death as he oversaw everything from its story to its settings and character designs. In a way, it feels like Dragon Ball Daima will be a final farewell to Toriyama, and Goku will be left in new hands moving forward.

We will have to wait a couple more weeks to see how Dragon Ball Daima plays out our favorite characters. Crunchyroll will begin streaming the anime on October 11, continuing its mission to bring quality simulcasts to fans across the globe. So brace yourselves. The world of Dragon Ball is about to get wild.

Dragon Ball Daima is only a few weeks from premiering its first episode and while there are still plenty of questions surrounding the new anime series, the latest trailer gave shonen fans far more than they were expecting. The upcoming television series might not be a sequel to Dragon Ball Super but it is incorporating aspects of its story from several elements that have appeared in the franchise’s spin-offs. Both Dragon Ball Heroes and Dragon Ball GT have been touted as having components that will appear in Daima, as miniature versions of the Z-Fighters and the Demon Realm have been featured. Keeping this in mind, might Super Saiyan 4 be a part of the anime as well? There’s a possibility.

If you need a refresher on the transformation known as Super Saiyan 4, it first appeared as the next level of Super Saiyan in Dragon Ball GT. Rather than achieving the form by experiencing severe loss or intense training, Goku managed to take on this transformation with a little help from the Kaioshins. In the face of the new threat known as Baby, Son had his tail brought back by the Kais and in doing so, unleashed the true power of the Saiyans. With the Planet Earth acting as the moon, Goku first became a Golden Oozaru, only to get a handle on his body and transform into the Super Saiyan 4 we’ve come to know today.

imageedit-5-9408911415.jpg

Super Saiyan 4 In Daima?

While far from confirmed, there is reason to believe that Super Saiyan 4, or some sort of iteration of this form, might make its way into Daima. Taking place between the death of Kid Buu and the beginning of Dragon Ball Super, “Mini Goku” and his allies are looking for ways to get their old bodies back in the upcoming anime. Thanks to a conspiracy taking place in the shadows, Goku is setting out to find the dragon balls and return to normal. This story outline sounds quite familiar to that of Dragon Ball’s Grand Tour and while it doesn’t see Trunks and Pan joining Goku’s quest, many anime fans believe that Daima might have been a way for deceased creator Akira Toriyama to put his own spin on the franchise’s spin-offs, making them his own.

On top of the Dragon Ball GT elements, some major aspects of Daima have key tenets of Dragon Ball Heroes within them. First appearing as an arcade game in Japan, Heroes would go on to receive a manga and anime adaptation, allowing for almost any and all elements from the shonen series to be incorporated into its multiversal, time-traveling exploits. The Demon Realm was a pivotal part of the spin-off’s story, routinely giving the Z-Fighters both allies to team-up with and enemies to fight against. As has been revealed in recent trailers, Daima is incorporating the underworld realm into its story and seeing Goku paying a visit to this locale that featured so prominently in Heroes.

super-saiyan-4-1217269.jpg

How Would Super Saiyan 4 Work Today?

Since Goku and his allies are transforming into younger iterations of themselves, the Saiyan members of the Z-Fighters might be seeing their tails making a comeback to boot. While they most likely won’t be utilizing the power of Super Saiyan God, Ultra Instinct, or Ultra Ego based on the timeline, Super Saiyan 4 could potentially be in the heroes’ grasp due to this loophole in their new bodies. Even if the transformation does appear in this side story, the form being unattainable in their adult forms, thanks to not having tails, could be a swerve as to why it is never referenced in Dragon Ball Super

As we’ve witnessed in the latest Dragon Ball Daima trailer, Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan despite his smaller stature. Keeping this in mind, the Z-Fighter utilizing transformations is another feather in the cap of the ape-like form making some sort of appearance. Toriyama was well aware that Super Saiyan 4 was a part of the franchise, despite not creating Dragon Ball GT himself, having shared art in the past of the unique form. Incorporating the form could be the manga artist’s way of once again taking on elements of the series that he never had attempted before.

dragon-ball-super-saiyan-4.png

We still have several weeks to debate what parts of the franchise will make up Dragon Ball Daima as the first episode premieres on October 11th. As of the writing of this article, there has been no reveal regarding whether Daima will receive a second season or if Dragon Ball Super will make a comeback following the next anime chapter. Regardless, the Dragon Ball Super manga will return according to artist Toyotaro, meaning that there are more Z-Fighter stories on the way both in the anime and on the printed page.

Dragon Ball Daima will be making its highly anticipated premiere later this Fall, and it seems like the new anime is going to have quite a lot in common with Dragon Ball GT. Dragon Ball is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the late Akira Toriyama’s original manga making its debut in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and things are starting off with a bang with a brand new anime series featuring a story not seen in any of the prior Dragon Ball manga or anime releases. But while the series is going to have a new story, some of those elements will be a bit familiar.

Dragon Ball Daima will see Goku exploring the Demon Realm after he and the rest of the Z Fighters (and their families) have been turned into “Mini” versions of themselves. Off on a brand new adventure outside of the events of Dragon Ball Z, it’s getting off to a start that will seem a bit similar to what fans might have seen in Dragon Ball GT. But the big difference between the two series despite those similarities, however, is that this new series will actually be part of the greater Dragon Ball canon and will impact future releases.

dragon-ball-daima-anime-dragon-ball-gt.jpg
Dragon Ball GT’s Kid Goku and Dragon Ball Daima’s Goku Mini

How Dragon Ball Daima Is Like Dragon Ball GT

The first of the big similarities is definitely the most noticeable. Goku being transformed into a much smaller version of himself as the promotional materials revealed he will be in a new “Mini” form in Dragon Ball Daima. Dragon Ball GT famously began with Goku being transformed back into a kid as a result of a wish on a new set of Dragon Balls, and that central hook is likely the same here as the demonic villains use the Dragon Balls (possibly a new set of blue ones) to turn Goku into this new form. Just visually, it’s hard to avoid the comparisons.

The second major way the two are tied together is with its central premise. Teasing that Goku would be going on a “Grand Adventure” much like the “Grand Tour” seen in the prior series, Goku Mini will be teaming up with Supreme Kai Mini and heading to a brand new area in order to figure out the root of the conspiracy that transformed all of them. Here he’ll meet different allies, and likely hunt down the new set of Dragon Balls at the root of these issues. Just like that prior series. But there’s still a big difference to work through.

Dragon Ball Daima Is Canon

While Akira Toriyama helped to design some of Dragon Ball GT‘s characters, the big difference with that series was that he was not directly involved with its story. Dragon Ball GT was produced by Toei Animation following the end of Dragon Ball Z, and was meant to serve as a sequel to that series. While it featured elements from the original canon of Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga release, it told its own story with its own original slate of episodes. And for a while, it was the only Dragon Ball anime we had gotten after Dragon Ball Z

But this time it’s different! Toriyama might no longer be around to see the results of the team’s efforts, but Daima was closely worked on by the creator. It’s also seemingly set after Dragon Ball Z, and will fill in more of the gaps between it and the events of Dragon Ball Super. It’s another way that it’s like GT, and maybe as what we’ve seen with the likes of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Dragon Ball Daima is Toriyama’s way of making some of the better elements of it officially a part of the canon.

How The Two Will Be Different

Funny enough, even with all of the similarities on the outside between the two anime, there’s also a bit of Super Dragon Ball Heroes mixed into the equation as well. The concept of the Demon Realm itself isn’t exactly new to Dragon Ball, and the arcade game has even gone as far as fully exploring it with a whole “realm” of demonic foes that Goku and the others have faced over the course of the game’s tenure thus far. So Dragon Ball Daima is likely going to include some of those best elements too on top of it all.

While Dragon Ball Daima and Dragon Ball GT might seem like one another right now, this is also far before we get to see the full series in action. Things will likely change when we get to see the full story Dragon Ball Daima wants to tell, and maybe it will bring in even more of the fun ideas from GT too like Super Saiyan 4, the Dark Dragons and more. That’s a way that the anime could borrow from GT and still make fans happy with the results. Because it’s not like GT had entirely bad ideas, it was just poorly received in the beginning because of that slow start.

In a hilariously full circle kind of way, this is the same situation with Dragon Ball Daima too. Because while fans had been hoping to see Dragon Ball Super return, or an anime adaptation of the manga material released since the anime ended, we’re getting Dragon Ball Daima instead. We’re getting a brand new series with a tiny version of Goku that fans immediately kind of withdrew from just on promotional materials alone. It’s a fun way to see the past become the present once more, and we’ll see how it all works out for Dragon Ball Daima when the anime premieres in Japan on October 11th.

Dragon Ball Daima is finally making its highly anticipated debut later this Fall, and the newest look at the anime might have introduced the king of the Demon Realm. Dragon Ball Daima will feature a brand new story from the late creator Akira Toriyama, and new characters and designs as a result. With the franchise celebrating the 40th anniversary of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga first hitting the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, this new anime series will be exploring a whole new side of the universe that has only been briefly hinted at in past releases.

Dragon Ball Daima’s latest updates leading into the new anime’s premiere have confirmed that the new series will be exploring the Demon Realm, and this will be the first real foray into this side of Universe 7 for the franchise as a whole. With it we’ll be introduced to the demonic denizens of the realm, and it seems like there are both allies and foes within the realm on a collision course with Goku. But the newest reveal for the series might have introduced the king of the Demon Realm overall.

dragon-ball-daima-gomah.jpg
Gomah in Dragon Ball Daima

Who Is King of the Demon Realm?

Dragon Ball Daima confirmed three new additions to the voice cast with its latest update, and with them has revealed the voices behind some of the demonic foes in the new series. While the Kaioshin lookalike in Degesu has already gained a lot of attention from fans for likely being the Supreme Kai equivalent for the Demon Realm, and Dr. Arinsu could be the one pulling the strings behind it all, the most mysterious new character of this trio is Gomah, who just might have a much bigger role in the new series and for the Demon Realm itself.

Gomah has been hinted at since the first first promotional visuals revealed for Dragon Ball Daima as one of the beings looking at everything that Goku had done up to the end of the Majin Buu arc. It’s not hard to imagine that this new character is behind the central conspiracy that turns Goku and the others into “Mini” versions of themselves, and the newest trailer for the anime even sees him suggesting that they should actually use the Dragon Balls for one of their nefarious purpose. So it’s a good idea to keep an eye on this one.

Dragon Ball Daima: Who Is Gomah?

It’s yet to be revealed what kind of role Gomah will be serving in Dragon Ball Daima, but he’ll be voiced by Showtaro Morikubo. The actor had the following to say about his role and joining the new anime, “I’ve been familiar with Dragon Ball for a long time, and I remember back in the days when the manga and anime started. So to have the opportunity to be involved with it made me really happy. I thought ‘I get to be in this!’ The series’ production was extravagant, so please enjoy the grand story and cast. Goku and company are in for a wild ride this time!”

Morikubo is playing coy about whether or not he truly will be a big foe, but thankfully it won’t be too much longer before we get more answers. Dragon Ball Daima will be officially premiering in Japan on October 11th, but international release plans or platforms have yet to be announced as of the time of this publication. With the new anime exploring the depths of the Demon Realm, Goku’s going to need to be wary of all of the tricks coming his way.

Of the many characters that were introduced in Dragon Ball Z’s history, Gogeta might take the crown as one of the strongest. While never officially introduced in Z’s continuity, the fusion character born from Goku and Vegeta performing the fusion dance would eventually appear thanks to Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Using this fusion to take down the legendary Super Saiyan, this power is one that the Z-Fighters don’t use nearly as often as they should. Despite this fact, anime fans still have a soft spot for Gogeta and one fan has recreated a key segment of Fusion Reborn with a new energetic animation.

For those who want a refresher on Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, the film was released in 1995 and was the twelfth movie of the shonen franchise. Like many other Dragon Ball movies, this particular story is not considered “canon”, meaning that Goku and Vegeta never fused using the fusion dance proper until their fight against Broly. The twelfth Dragon Ball Z movie focused on a new threat dubbed Janemba, a villain in the afterlife whose birth helped unleash countless villains into the mortal world. Eventually, Vegeta and Goku realized that they would need to perform the fusion dance to take home the win, and thus, Gogeta was born.

Gogeta Returns

While Gogeta was never introduced in Dragon Ball Z, we did see a fusion of Goku and Vegeta thanks to the Potarra earrings. In fighting against Majin Buu, the two top Saiyans fused to become Vegitto. Thanks to some unnecessary bravado and “playing with his food”, Vegitto was unable to take Buu off the map, leaving the pink powerhouse to evolve into his “final form”, Kid Buu. While Fusion Reborn might not have had an impact on the timeline, it remains one of the best fan-favorites of the shonen’s history.

Gogeta’s Super Future?

The last time we saw Gogeta was in the fight against Broly but we have yet to see the fusion character make a comeback following his big victory against the Legendary Super Saiyan. In both the Moro and Granolah The Survivor Arcs, which have yet to be animated, Goku and Vegeta did not take the opportunity to fuse, though they certainly could have. With Black Frieza now the strongest being in the universe and Dragon Ball Super’s artist Toyotaro confirming that the manga isn’t done quite yet, there’s a strong possibility that Gogeta will make a comeback at some point.

Will Gogeta Be In Daima

While this question hasn’t been answered, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll see the Mini Goku and the Mini Vegeta performing the fusion dance in the upcoming anime series, Dragon Ball Daima. Daima will take place following the death of Kid Buu but before the start of Dragon Ball Super, meaning that Goku and Vegeta haven’t ever officially performed the fusion dance before. Ironically enough, it also seems unlikely that we’ll see Gotenks making an appearance as Goten and Trunks have been transformed into babies as a result of Daima’s big conspiracy.

While neither Daima nor Super, a major avenue for Gogeta was the Dragon Ball Heroes spin-off series. The fused character would routinely be utilized by both the Z-Fighters and the Time Patrol, as countless villains would warrant the power of Gogeta to save the multiverse. The anime spin-off gave fans the chance to see Gogeta actually having an interaction with Universe 11’s Jiren, making for a moment that otherwise might have never taken place in the main series.

Dragon Ball Daima will be making its highly anticipated debut next month, and the anime has revealed its new ending theme and more voices filling out the cast ahead of its premiere. Dragon Ball Daima will be reinventing the Dragon Ball franchise with a brand new story not seen in any of the previous anime or manga releases. Featuring a new story from the late creator Akira Toriyama, the new anime will be introducing all sorts of new characters designed by Toriyama himself as well. It’s also looking to be a fairly worldwide production given who’s been involved with the anime thus far.

Dragon Ball Daima will be premiering next month, and has since been revealing major updates about what to expect from the new anime. Previously revealing that musician Zedd was behind the production of the new opening theme, “Jaka Jaan,” it’s now been announced that Zedd will be producing the ending theme as well. Titled “NAKAMA,” it will feature vocals performed by AI. This announcement also comes with the voice cast reveals for three of the mysterious demons in the new series as well. Check out their character designs below:

Who Are Dragon Ball Daima’s New Characters?

Dragon Ball Daima has announced three new additions to the cast that will likely be critical to the new story. These three characters were revealed in the newest trailer, and are likely behind the conspiracy that transforms Goku and the others into “Mini” versions of themselves. The first is Gomah, who will be voiced by Showtaro Morikubo (Shikamaru Nara in Naruto, Bartolomeo in One Piece), who is a tinier demonic creature that’s clearly going to be up to no good in the new series.

This is followed by Degesu, who will be voiced by Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen, Shosuke Komi in Komi Can’t Communicate). This is the mysterious character who looks a lot like the Supreme Kai, and clearly has ties with the Demon Realm being introduced in the new series. Just like Gohan, it’s clear that this character has something up their sleeves as well so Goku and the others will need to keep an eye out for what Degesu might be doing behind the strings of all of the action.

The final of the new additions is Dr. Arinsu, as voiced by Yoko Hikasa (Rias Gremory in High School DxD, and Emilie in Genshin Impact). This mysterious demonic doctor is just as mischievous looking as the other two new additions, and is likely also involved in the central conspiracy in the Demon Realm. But this doctor might be the one actually behind all of the plans, so another character to certainly keep an eye on.

Dragon Ball Daima Release Date

It won’t be too much longer before we get to see these new characters, however, as Dragon Ball Daima will be officially premiering in Japan on October 11th. International release plans or platforms have yet to be announced as of the time of this publication, but it features an original story and characters from the late Dragon Ball franchise creator Akira Toriyama. Masako Nozawa will be leading the series as the voice of the new Goku Mini, and is certainly down for all sorts of fights.

These new cast additions join the previously confirmed likes of Yumiko Kobayashi as Supreme Kai (Mini), Koki Uchiyama as Glorio, and Fairouz Ai as Panzy. They are going to be allies to Goku Mini as he travels through the newly expanded Demon Realm, so fans are excited to see how it will all expand on the overall canon of the franchise.

We are in the home stretch for Dragon Ball Daima. After being announced over a year ago, the anime will make its debut on television in just over a month. Dragon Ball Daima is expected to go live on October 11. The anime will bring a new adventure to Son Goku and his friends as we know a rogue wish on the dragon balls will turn them tiny. And thanks to some trailer teasers, Dragon Ball fans think Goku is about to star in his own version of Dante’s Inferno.

You did read that right. Dante and Goku have little if nothing in common, but that seems like it will change when Dragon Ball Daima goes live. Centuries ago, Dante was forced to traverse the rings of hell as part of an epic trilogy. Son Goku is now set to explore a different kind of hell, and we have the Demon Realm to thank.

The Levels of the Demon Realm

The theory came to life as the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima showcases some new settings. We are shown some curious close ups of Universe 7, but three made fans pause in particular. As you can see below, the supernatural areas have an ominous energy to them, and Dragon Ball fans are theorizing each locale is a separate ring of the Demon Realm. You know, just like how Dante’s Inferno has its own nine layers.

Looking at the levels, the first layer is pretty close to what you’d imagine as hell. It is imbued with dark red shades like fire is coating the sky. For the most part, the area is a wasteland, so this level of the Demon Realm may be the first. As for the second layer, its bright green hue is definitely lively, but the third pictured in the Dragon Ball Daima trailer is making fans buzz. After all, the pink-sky should look familiar. The area appears to be where our heroes fought Dabura back in the Dragon Ball Z days, and we know the demon has connections to the Demon World as he put it.

Will Dragon Ball Daima Mimic Real-World Myths?

We already know Dragon Ball Daima will focus on the Demon Realm as its denizens seem to have caused Goku’s mini makeover. The dragon balls may have been corrupted by the demonic power of the underworld, and for ages, the Demon Realm has been sealed. If a crack opened for locals to escape, then Goku should be able to get in just the same. And if we are going to be spending time in the Demon Realm, well – it is going to need plenty of locales for us to visit.

Still, there is more backing this theory than just Dante’s Inferno. If you take a step back from Dragon Ball, a number of religions and cultures depict hell as having layers. In some faiths, hell is a simple static place for wayward souls to go after death. However, other depictions of hell occur like in Greek mythology. It is there the Underworld is separated into four main regions. One of these regions is the Elysian Fields where the souls of heroes reside; Back in the day, Dragon Ball‘s version of heaven drew comparisons to the Elysian Fields, so it is not hard to imagine the Demon Realm copying even more Greek mythos.

From Buddhism to Catholicism, hell has been portrayed in all sorts of ways over the decades. We know Dragon Ball takes inspiration from the real world as series creator Akira Toriyama crafted Goku from the hero of Journey to the West. It would not surprise fans to find more cultural takeaways in the Demon Realm, so Son Goku’s take on Dante is not just possible but likely.

What Does Goku Want From the Demon Realm?

It seems like Goku is going to have to traverse the Demon Realm one way or another when Dragon Ball Daima goes live. The question now is how that adventure goes. We’ve seen the Saiyan take on tons of missions over the decades, and he’s (literally) been to hell and back. The Demon Realm is just another underworld along the way, but its denizens are no doubt strong. There is a reason Dragon Ball lore states the realm was sealed away ages ago. Its revival can only lead to chaos, and it will be Goku’s job to prevent that apocalypse from being fulfilled.

If you want to check out Dragon Ball Daima, the series is set to launch on October 11. At this time, the anime has yet to share where it will be streaming, but Goku has been attended to in the past. Funimation oversaw the anime’s streaming run for ages, and given its fold into Crunchyroll, you shouldn’t worry too much about Dragon Ball Daima finding a place to stream.

Dragon Ball Daima will be coming our way later this Fall, and the anime might have already revealed the mysterious leader of the Demon Realm. Dragon Ball Daima is a brand new anime series coming this October that will be telling a story not seen in any of the previous Dragon Ball anime and manga releases before. Dragon Ball will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the late Akira Toriyama’s manga making its debut in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and this new anime is the way the franchise is going all out to commemorate the occasion.

Dragon Ball Daima features a new story from the late creator Akira Toriyama along with the new character designs seen in the upcoming series. This new series previously revealed it will be exploring the Demon Realm with this next major adventure as Goku Mini and the Supreme Kai (who is also Mini) are challenged with this new realm following a mysterious conspiracy. But the one pulling all of the strings behind it all just might have already been revealed with the latest trailer

dragon-ball-daima-demon-realm-leader-theory.jpg

Dragon Ball: Who Is in Charge of the Demon Realm?

The newest look at Dragon Ball Daima reveals a mysterious new figure who looks a lot like the Supreme Kai. This new figure was seemingly working for someone else, and that someone else is likely the one behind the conspiracy at the center of the new story as well. It’s just a matter of figuring out who this new being actually is as the character has yet to be named as of the latest set of reveals of cast additions and new characters fans will get to see in action in the upcoming series.

But it’s likely this figure is actually a Supreme Kai himself as well. But while the Supreme Kai we know is in charge of the upper realms and oversees Universe 7, this Kaioshin likely instead stands watch over the Demon Realm. There’s a good chance he’s the figurehead for this lower universe, but it’s also likely that it works just like the Supreme Kai hierarchy. Because as we know by now, the Supreme Kai himself is far from the highest position of authority in the universe.

dragon-ball-daima-new-kaioshin.jpg
A mysterious new Kaioshin in Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball: What New Demons Are From the Demon Realm?

With Dragon Ball Daima exploring a new side of Universe 7 with this further fleshing out of the Demon Realm, it means a whole new echelon of characters will be explored in the new series. This new Kaioshin is likely working under a deadlier threat, who will be on the same level as Beerus or Whis would be in the upper worlds. With this new anime diving into the depths, it also means Goku could be facing off against demonic foes with that same level of power as the gods he had previously faced off against.

Beerus and Whis themselves have also been mysteriously absent from Dragon Ball Daima‘s promotional materials thus far, so if there are demons who are basically mirror opposites in terms of level and power, then Goku won’t have any kind of help from those higher up beings either. With his new Mini form also debuffing him to his less than godly levels of power (meaning Ultra Instinct might not be on the table), Goku is likely going to struggle against what’s next.

Is Dragon Ball Daima Canon?

These questions really wouldn’t mean much if the series wasn’t a part of the official canon, and luckily Dragon Ball fans can rest easy knowing that it’s going to be. With the late Akira Toriyama providing the original story and characters before his passing, it means that this series will be slotting firmly in place with the rest of the projects we have seen thus far. As for when in the Dragon Ball timeline it will be set, it’s looking more like an official Dragon Ball Z sequel than a Dragon Ball Super one

With characters missing from Dragon Ball Super, and promotional materials seeing a demon watching all the events up to the Majin Buu saga, it looks like it’s going to hit right before the events of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Thankfully it won’t be too much longer until we all see it in action as Dragon Ball Daima will be premiering in Japan on October 11th, but has yet to confirm its international streaming platforms or dates as of the time of this publication.

Dragon Ball Daima is ready to send Son Goku on a wild new adventure. The upcoming anime is slated for a launch in October, and despite the passing of series creator Akira Toriyama, it is moving forward. The anime is one of the last projects Toriyama worked on, so you can just imagine how invested fans are seeing Dragon Ball Daima through. From its new power boosts to its brand-new worlds, Dragon Ball has a lot to explore, and that includes Universe 7.

After all, the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima has fans looking even closer at Universe 7. The franchise has spent most of its time in Universe 7 as it marks the home of Goku and his friends. We’ve seen its take on the afterlife as well as hell, but there is a new piece of Universe 7 we have yet to explore. The Demon Realm is coming, and the landscape is very much part of Universe 7.

What Does Dragon Ball’s Universe 7 Look Like?

If you did not realize, Universe 7 has an interesting design. Toriyama once drafted the look of Universe 7 for a guide book, and it suggests the universe is shaped like a gatcha ball. Inside the ball, we have everything from planet Earth to the heavens and hell. There are other planets included in the Universe 7 bauble such as Beerus’ hangout, but there is more to Universe 7 at its south pole.

universe-7.png

Far below hell, Universe 7 is said to have a sharp tip that marks its south pole. This tip appears to be the home of the Demon Realm, and this idea is backed up by the the latest Dragon Ball Daima trailer. We are shown the underbelly of Universe 7 before the trailer takes us into the Demon Realm. Now, the question we all want answered is how does the Demon Realm fit into the anime’s canon?

What Is the Demon Realm?

After all, the Demon Realm is nothing new to Dragon Ball. Even in the anime, the strange land has been alluded to several time. During the original Dragon Ball run, we met different Demon World kings like Shula. The leader was able to open a door from the Demon World to Earth, but Goku quickly shut it after rescuing the princess Misa. Again in Dragon Ball Z, Dabura made mention of the Demon World during a chat with Babidi. So clearly, the realm has been part of the mainline series for ages.

However, the Demon Realm is way more fleshed out than the anime would have you believe. In the extended canon of Dragon Ball, Goku and our heroes have dealt with the Demon Realm plenty. The lore there states that the Demon Realm was sealed away from Earth in the Year 850 as prophecies suggested chaos would overtake Universe 7 if it was unlocked. Characters like Towa and Mira appear in the extended canon as soldiers eager to unseal the Demon Realm, leaving Goku in charge of stopping them. So clearly, something has gone down in Dragon Ball Daima that has unsealed at least a portion of the Demon Realm.

How Will the Demon Realm Impact Dragon Ball Daima?

Based on the trailers we have so far, the Demon Realm is now open to some degree, and its denizens have discovered what the dragon balls can do. Their wish on the relics has transformed Goku and his allies into minis, and not even the Kais can reverse the situation. It will take Goku traveling across Universe 7 to find the dragon balls to undo the wish. And if the Demon Realm is to blame for the situation, well – the dragon balls might be a bit corrupt.

The power that the Demon Realm houses is incredibly corruptive. It could very well influence the dragon balls, and in past trailers for Dragon Ball Daima, we do see the relics looking different. The Blue Dragon Balls were once intended to appear in Dragon Ball GT as the Black Star Dragon Balls, and those relics were indeed corrupted by demonic energy. Between the dragon balls being influenced and the Demon Realm opening up, Goku will have his work cut out for him in Dragon Ball Daima. And at last, we will get to see a part of Universe 7 that Toriyama only even hinted at until now.

What do you think about this upcoming Dragon Ball anime? Are you excited to visit the Demon Realm? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.

Dragon Ball Heroes has ended. The long-running arcade game presented both a manga and arcade game that introduced old and new characters to fight the Time Patrol and the Z-Fighters. On top of bringing in new villains from the Demon Realm, the spin-off would also bring back old villains and give them some serious power-ups to keep up with their opponents. Such was definitely the case with Zamasu and Goku Black, as the two were returned to the anime world thanks to multiverse shenanigans and the villainous Hearts. While Heroes has come to a close, that isn’t stopping cosplayers from paying homage to the series.

For those unfamiliar with what Heroes did with Goku Black and Zamasu, the villain known as Hearts brought back the latter to help him in his battle against the gods. When it came to Goku Black, this new iteration of the anime villain was making it his goal to eliminate one hundred Gokus from across the multiverse. In doing so Black believed he would become the ultimate iteration of Goku. During his universal travels, Goku Black was able to attain a new transformation in Super Saiyan 3 Rose, causing some serious headaches for the Z-Fighters and Time Patrol alike.

Goku Black & Zamasu’s Heroes’ Journey

In the main Dragon Ball Super series, the fusion of Zamasu and Goku Black nearly destroyed the universe but was ultimately defeated thanks to the interference of Xeno. Since the Goku Black Arc, neither villain has returned to the main Dragon Ball Super storyline. On top of the villains’ absence, Future Trunks and Mai also have yet to make a comeback as they travel back to the future albeit to a timeline that is far different from their own.

On October 11th, the Z-Fighters will experience a new anime series in Dragon Ball Daima. Taking place between the death of Kid Buu and the beginning of Dragon Ball Super, this timeline makes it highly unlikely that we’ll be witnessing the return of either Goku Black or Zamasu. On the manga side, Dragon Ball Super artist Toyotaro has hinted at the series’ return, though the Z-Fighters might have their hands full with Black Frieza versus a possible resurrection of the “mortal killers”.

Dragon Ball Daima’s latest trailer confirmed that a major locale from the shonen franchise will make an appearance. The Demon Realm, aka the Dark Demon Realm, has never gained much of a focus in the main continuity of the series but that is about to change this October. Introducing such characters as Grilio and Panzy, it seems that Son Goku will be gaining some demonic allies and most likely will be taking on some denizens of the Demon Realm to boot. Keeping this in mind, what better time than now to both go into the history of the Demon Realm and examine why it might be a major part of Daima’s story.

The Demon Realm might not have played a major part in Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Super, but it has been an essential part of the Dragon Ball Heroes storyline. The spin-off series that takes place outside of the main continuity is one that has routinely seen threats and friends come out of its landscape. The Time Patrol has sent its strongest fighters to take on the villains that have appeared including Demigra, Yamma, Makma, and many more. There is one specific villain that Dragon Ball Z fans are well acquainted with who hailed from this world and might just be a big impetus for Daima.

dragon-ball-daima-new-kaioshin.jpg
A mysterious new Kaioshin in Dragon Ball Daima

The Demon Realm in Dragon Ball Daima

Dabura, a major villain of the Demon Realm, didn’t just hail from this environment but he was also a king in the alternate reality. While Dabura wasn’t killed by the Z-Fighters, rather he was eaten by Majin Buu once he was transformed into chocolate, the demon lord did fight against Gohan and was a servant to Babidi. The idea that members of the Demon Realm are looking for revenge for Dabura’s death and blame Goku and company is a sound motivation for the mysterious new villains.

On top of having some history in the original series, the Demon Realm is an interesting environment for “Mini” Goku to explore. It’s not exactly the friendliest of places and should throw some major curveballs at the Z-Fighters, especially in their new bodies. When Dragon Ball Daima revealed a story similar to that of Dragon Ball GT, introducing the Demon Realm might have been a way for Akira Toriyama to put his spin on elements of the shonen franchise that were explored in spin-offs.

We are nearly a month out from Dragon Ball Daima, believe it or not. Not long ago, we learned the upcoming anime will make its debut on October 11, and the premiere promises to mark a new chapter of Son Goku. It has been years since we have seen the Saiyan on television, so of course, fans are keeping all eyes on Dragon Ball Daima. The show is expected to bring out a different take on Goku, and if a new report is true, Dragon Ball Daima could be a long-awaited sequel to the Majin Buu saga from years ago.

The whole report started online as influencers like EmperorBigD unpacked the link between Dragon Ball Daima and Dragon Ball Z. The rumor, which has not been addressed officially, suggests the upcoming anime will be set shortly after the Majin Buu saga and well before Dragon Ball Super got underway.

“The characters and the realms that are introduced in Dragon Ball Daima are set to come back for a future Dragon Ball story arc,” EmperorBigD shared, and given their track record with the IP before now, fans are paying close attention to this report.

In the trailers for Dragon Ball Daima, we have not been given a clear timeline of when it is set, but we have seen a few things that hint as much. For one, Goku Mini has been shown going Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2, but no mention of Super Saiyan God has come around. The latter form kickstarted a slew of new power boosts in Dragon Ball Super, and if it is not showing up in Dragon Ball Daima, it could be because Son Goku has yet to unlock the form.

Do We Need a Buu Saga Sequel?

The latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima also made fans paused with its recreated scene from the Majin Buu saga. We were shown from clips of Goku and Vegeta that are from that story block. And as for missing characters, Beerus and Whis are at the top of the list. Again, those characters made their debut after the Majin Buu saga just as Dragon Ball Super began its timeline. So when it comes to footage, Dragon Ball Daima hasn’t refuted its place as a Buu saga sequel.

For years, Dragon Ball fans have want to know how life went on after the Buu saga, and Dragon Ball Super addressed that to a degree. It took place some years after the whole affair, so Dragon Ball Daima may come in to fill the immediate gap. For now, we will have to see how the story pans out. Dragon Ball Daima is slated to hit televisions on October 11 in Japan. No streaming home has been given for the anime yet, but given the franchise’s popularity, you can bet distributors are bidding hard for the anime’s rights.

In Dragon Ball Daima’s latest trailer, the upcoming anime series confirmed a major factoid about Goku in his new “mini” form. Transformed into a much smaller version of himself thanks to a conspiracy utilizing the dragon balls, many anime fans were left wondering just how powerful the Z-Fighter would be in the body of a child. The tiny Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan, which opens up the question as to what other transformations the anime hero can use. Now seems like the perfect time to examine whether or not Daima’s version can access the power of Ultra Instinct.

As a refresher, Son was able to learn how to tap into the power of Ultra Instinct thanks to his participation in the Tournament of Power. Using this new transformation to fight against Universe 11’s Jiren, Goku would go on to perfect the form during the fight against the sorcerer Moro, the bounty hunter Granolah, and the Heeters’ most powerful member, Gas. Learning various iterations of the ultimate form, Goku still has a long way to go in fighting against the new strongest being in the universe as teased in the Granolah Saga’s final chapter. Frieza has achieved a new transformation dubbed “Black Frieza” which makes him far stronger than either Goku’s Ultra Instinct or Vegeta’s Ultra Ego.

imageedit-14-3475181419.jpg

Can Daima’s Goku Go Ultra Instinct?

Considering when Dragon Ball Daima takes place in the timeline, it seems highly unlikely that Goku will use the power of Ultra Instinct to look for a way to turn back to normal. Daima takes place after the death of Kid Buu but before Goku and the Z-Fighters meet Beerus and Whis, meaning that they don’t have a conception of transformations like Ultra Instinct and the power of the gods. At best, Goku may be able to transform into a Super Saiyan 3 as that was the highest form he could use at the start of Dragon Ball Super while fighting Universe Seven’s God of Destruction.

As of the writing of this article, there hasn’t been confirmation as to whether Dragon Ball Super’s anime will make a comeback. Ending its initial run in 2018, the anime adaptation still has to cover two major arcs in the Moro Arc and the Granolah The Survivor Arc. Considering the popularity of the shonen franchise, it seems like a safe bet that Ultra Instinct will make a comeback to the anime adaptation.

Dragon Ball Daima is looking to take the anime world by storm this October. On October 11th, Goku and his fellow Z-Fighters are going to have to face a brand new challenge that transforms them all into miniaturized versions of themselves. In the latest trailer for the anime series, elements such as the Demon Dimension and several new characters were confirmed. As shonen fans await the return of Son and his allies to the small screen, new members of the cast have been confirmed for the upcoming season. To no one’s surprise, the actors have already been a big part of the anime scene.

To start things off, voice actor Koki Uchiyama (My Hero Academia’s Shigaraki) will be taking on the role of Glorio. While there are still several questions surrounding this new character’s background, he at least seems to be on relatively friendly terms with Goku and Kaioshin from what we’ve seen so far. Following the casting announcement, Koki released an official statement on becoming a part of the Dragon Ball universe, “I never expected to be able to play a role in Dragon Ball so I’m honored to have had the fortune to be given this opportunity. This series has been made so that all sorts of people can enjoy it, from fans who love the series deeply, to those who may not be familiar with it yet. It’s full of not just amazing action but gorgeous imagery that makes each episode dizzying to watch, so I hope you’ll all see it through to the end.”

Jolyne Cujoh Joins Daima

Ai Fairouz, who might be best known for her role as Joylen Cujoh in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, is taking on the role of Panzy (Aka the Masked Majin) in the upcoming anime. Here are her official thoughts following the casting announcement, “I’m so full of a feeling of honor to be able to lend my voice to a series like Dragon Ball that is loved all over the world. I believe Daima is a series that is packed full of charm of the Dragon Ball world. There wil be a lot of traveling to various places during the series, but each place will be full of its own entertaining drama, so I think people will be able to experience it as though they’re along for the adventure. I hope you’ll all enjoy it.”

Finally, Yumiko Kobayashi (another JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure veteran) is taking on the role of the Supreme Kai. Previously voiced by Shinichiro Ohta, Kobayashi will be lending her talents to the smaller iteration of the long-time member of the Dragon Ball cast.

Dragon Ball staked its claim on the anime industry decades ago, and it won’t be long before the IP makes its grand return to television. This October, all eyes will be on Dragon Ball Daima as it will mark a new canon entry for Son Goku. As the show’s premiere nears, new promos for Dragon Ball Daima are on the rise, and its most recent teaser confirms the anime is bringing back a long-lost piece of the Super Saiyan transformation.

Can you guess what it is? Well, if you have been in the fandom for awhile, you should be able to guess. Dragon Ball Daima is bringing back the form’s blue eyes, and Goku looks better than ever with the makeover.

As you can see above, the new trailer for Dragon Ball Daima shows Goku Mini tapping into his Super Saiyan form, and the transition does give him blue eyes. The aqua hue was first introduced during Dragon Ball Z, and during that anime, Goku and his Saiyan cohort would take on blue eyes when they transformed. Somewhere along the line, that design element went away to the chagrin of fans. Goku’s blue eyes were a key piece of his Super Saiyan aura, and after years of begging, the franchise is ready to bring that look back to life.

In the trailer for Dragon Ball Daima, we have seen Goku go Super Saiyan, and he goes Super Saiyan 2 before the reel ends. So far, there is no word about Super Saiyan 3 or any other advanced forms like Ultra Instinct. Dragon Ball Daima has not given us a concise timeline yet, but currently, netizens believe the anime is set before the events of Dragon Ball Super. As such, powers like Ultra Instinct will surely be shelved, but that is fine by fans so long as Super Saiyan is done justice.

What Is Dragon Ball Daima?

If you are not caught up on all things Dragon Ball Daima, the new anime is slated to drop on October 11. The series features an original story created by Akira Toriyama before the series creator’s untimely death. From character designs to setting, Toriyama worked closely with Toei Animation on this new series. So far, no word has been given on the show’s streaming home, but fans can expect new information to drop shortly. After all, Dragon Ball Daima is about a month from launch, so the countdown is on.

Want to know more about Dragon Ball? No sweat. You can check out the hit series from the start thanks to the Shonen Jump app. So for more info on Dragon Ball, you can read its official synopsis below:

“Meet a naive young monkey-tailed boy named Goku, whose quiet life changes when he meets Bulma, a girl who is on a quest to collect seven “Dragon Balls.” If she gathers them all, an incredibly powerful dragon will appear and grant her one wish. But the precious orbs are scattered all over the world, and Bulma needs Goku’s help (and his super-strength)! With a magic staff for a weapon and a flying cloud for a ride, Goku sets out on the adventure of a lifetime…”

Dragon Ball Daima will be making its highly anticipated debut later this October, and a new look at the upcoming anime has previewed a mysterious new Kaioshin that’s going to be in the mix. Dragon Ball Daima will be a brand new anime series telling a story not seen in the previous Dragon Ball TV anime or manga releases, and that means there will be a ton of new faces and opportunities to expand on the greater lore of the franchise overall. While fans have been introduced to all sorts of gods, angels, and universes in prior entries, it seems this next anime will be expanding more of the demons.

Dragon Ball Daima has revealed a new look at the upcoming anime ahead of its premiere next month, and with it has teased that the new story will be exploring the Demon Realm. This has not only revealed some new demonic characters coming to the franchise, but also shakes things up with a mysterious new Kaioshin (who looks remarkably close to Supreme Kai), and working with another being who was being threatened by Goku and the others. So who will this new godly being be?

Dragon Ball Daima: New Kaioshin and Demons

Dragon Ball has previous revealed the Demon Realm here and there in non-canonical entries, so this will be the first real exploration as to what this new realm looks like. If this is also set before the events of Dragon Ball Super (which is highly likely considering that Beerus or Whis don’t seem to be in any of the promotional materials thus far), then this could be Goku’s first brush with this side of the spirit realm too. It’s just a matter of why they might be exploring this new realm.

This new Kaioshin is likely working with whatever grand villain that Dragon Ball Daima is still keeping under wraps as of these newest reveals, and is probably one of the reasons that Goku and the others have been magically transformed into tinier forms. But this mysterious new figure could have their own plans in motion as well, so it’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

Dragon Ball Daima will be premiering on October 11th in Japan, but has yet to reveal its international plans or release platforms as of the time of this publication. The late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama helped to craft the original main story and character designs for Dragon Ball Daima. Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki are directing the series for Toei Animation, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is adapting Toriyama’s designs for animation, and Yuuko Kakihara is supervising and writing the scripts.

Dragon Ball Daima has recruited musician Zedd for the anime’s big opening theme. Dragon Ball Daima will be making its highly anticipated premiere later this Fall, and will be a brand new anime series telling a story not seen in any previous Dragon Ball anime or manga releases. The late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama had helped with the new story and characters that are going to be seen in the new series, and Shueisha and Toei Animation are really going all out for the project as it helps to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original manga’s release.

There was a bit of speculation that Zedd might have been recruited for the new anime’s opening theme following some teases from the artist themselves, and now it’s been revealed to be true. Dragon Ball Daima will feature an opening theme titled “Jaka Jaka” with music produced by Zedd, Yukinojo Mori writing the lyrics, and CLIEVY and KEEN of C&K signing the theme itself. To get a better idea of how this new theme will be heard when the anime premieres, you can check it out in action with the newest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima below.

Dragon Ball Daima Release Date

As for Zedd’s role in it all, the artist shared the following statement about producing Dragon Ball Daima‘s opening theme on the anime’s official website, “I was incredibly honored to even be considered to produce music for Dragon Ball. I grew up being such a big fan, and I never thought I would ever be able to work on something like that. I have always aspired to write theme songs and score music. Composing music for something that influenced many of childhood years is an absolute dream.”

It won’t be too much longer before we get to see it all in action as Dragon Ball Daima will be premiering on October 11th in Japan, but has yet to reveal its international plans or release platforms as of the time of this publication.

Masako Nozawa is returning to the anime to once again provide the voice for Goku, and is joined alongside Yumiko Kobayashi as Supreme Kai (Mini), Koki Uchiyama as Glorio, and Fairouz Ai as Panzy. An English dub for the anime has yet to be announced as of this time.

Dragon Ball Daima has revealed more of what to expect from the new anime series, and the latest trailer has raised some questions about its place in the timeline with some characters who are suspiciously absent. Dragon Ball Daima is a brand new anime series coming later this October to help commemorate the 40th anniversary of the late Akira Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga making its debut in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. This is a new series where Toriyama got to craft the story and characters before his passing, and it’s raised questions about what to expect from it overall.

Dragon Ball Daima shared a new trailer revealing more of Goku Mini along with many of the new characters, and it’s sparked some questions due to some missing faces. Not only are key characters like Gohan not seen in action (in either adult or new “Mini” form as seen with everyone), but there are characters introduced later such as Beerus, Whis, or Broly who were not seen in the trailer. This could mean that Dragon Ball Daima‘s place in the overall canon could be set even before the events of Dragon Ball Super

dragon-ball-daima-gohan-missing.jpg

Is Dragon Ball Daima Canon?

There has been a question of whether or not Dragon Ball Daima is canon to the overall franchise, and it’s likely going to be considering that Toriyama worked on the story and characters. The next question from that point on is when it’ll take place seeing as how the Dragon Ball Super TV anime and manga have since introduced tons of new characters. If Beerus, Whis, and Broly are missing from this new anime, this likely places it before the events of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

So that would explain those absences, but the fact that Gohan is still missing is quite the head scratcher. It’s not likely a very crucial question as Gohan will likely not play a huge role in Goku’s new adventure in Dragon Ball Daima either way, but it’s certainly curious as to why he has yet to be revealed in the promotional materials seen thus far. This is also true for Videl too, and if this takes place before Battle of Gods, then it’s not like the two of them would be far away from the others when all of this goes down.

But luckily we’ll get some more answers soon when Dragon Ball Daima premieres on October 11th in Japan.

When Dragon Ball Daima first revealed its story, many shonen fans immediately began thinking of Dragon Ball GT. After all, the Grand Tour featured Son Goku being transformed into a child and searching the galaxy alongside partners that he normally didn’t adventure with. In a surprise twist, Akira Toriyama’s anime series has revealed that a major element of the sequel series to Dragon Ball Z will be the Demon Realm. Long-playing a part in the spin-off series, Dragon Ball Heroes, the alternate dimension has new characters that will arrive in the anime adaptation, both allies and enemies alike to the Z-Fighters.

The Demon Realm didn’t appear in Dragon Ball Z’s original story, though it did play a major role in the Majin Buu Saga thanks to one specific character. The alternate dimension is where Dabura, the villain who worked for Babidi, hailed from and was apparently a high-ranking official in the locale. Harboring a power level similar to that of Super Saiyan 2, Dabura was eventually killed by Majin Buu once the pink powerhouse was awakened and never returned to the official series. While Dabura would make appearances in Dragon Ball Heroes, it will be interesting to see if he somehow returns in Daima.

Dragon Ball’s Demon Dimension

On top of traveling with Kaioshin on this new anime adventure, Son Goku is seemingly getting aid from two members of the Demon Realm. A new character named Glorio and the previously seen “Masked Majin”, who has been revealed to be a young girl named Panzy. Luckily, despite his tinier self, Goku has demonstrated in the new trailer that he can still transform into a Super Saiyan. You can check out the latest trailer for the series below.

Anime fans don’t have to wait much longer to see the Z-Fighters return to the small screen. On October 11th, the first episode of the series will arrive on the small screen, though no platform has been confirmed for Daima to hit North America. Considering how wildly popular the Dragon Ball series is in North America, it seems like a safe bet that mini Goku will arrive in the West.

Dragon Ball Daima is finally on the horizon. It has been a year since the world was told about the new series, and Son Goku will lead the anime’s release in October. In just over a month, Toei Animation will put Dragon Ball in the spotlight, and the anime’s latest trailer gives us a first look at Super Saiyan Goku Mini.

As you can see below, a new trailer for Dragon Ball Daima was posted this week, and it gives us our most thorough look at the show yet. Not only do we get a peek at new villain and the anime’s Demon Realm, but Goku Mini shows off his incredible power. After all, the hero can go Super Saiyan while in this younger form, and the iconic power boost looks as good as ever.

We already know that Goku Mini is the form our hero will take in Dragon Ball Daima, and it seems that form can pair with others. This trailer shows Goku Mini going Super Saiyan as well as Super Saiyan 2. Now, fans are questioning whether Super Saiyan 3 will make an appearance in this series. And depending on its place in the timeline, Goku Mini could one day tap into Ultra Instinct.

When Will Dragon Ball Daima Premiere?

Of course, Dragon Ball Daima has high expectations to meet, and Toei Animation will begin challenging them on October 11. Fuji TV will begin its broadcast of Dragon Ball Daima next month, and the show has been given a late-night slot to accommodate older fans and looser censorship guidelines.

With an extended premiere on hand, Dragon Ball Daima is expected to hit the ground running, and the comeback is very much overdue. The last time Goku graced the television with a new episode was March 2018 when Dragon Ball Super bowed out. So if you want to know more about Dragon Ball Daima, no sweat! You can read up on the series below thanks to Akira Toriyama’s official description of the anime:

“Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world! It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.”

What do you think about this first peek at Goku Mini going Super Saiyan? Are you excited to watch Dragon Ball Daima? Give me a shout at @meganwpeters with your take! You can also let us know what you think over on X (Twitter) and Instagram.
